I know the video is not good to watch, but that is exactly what happens when a semi hits your vehicle. A semi can be loaded up to 80,000 lbs. . They are nothing you want to get involved with. I either pass or back off of following a semi. They can be loaded with up to 50,000 lbs of hazardous material also. Imagine being in a accident with a truck loaded up with that much Drain-o in it or gas, or radioactive material, explosives, poison, the list goes on and on. There is a triangle on the trailer of a semi if it is carrying hazardous material. If you see one of those......... get back fast. One time, going through Cleveland, Ohio, I was driving a load of poisonous chemicals headed for Chicago and on my left was a load carrying radioactive material and on the right was an explosive load. We were in the middle of rush hour and down by the lake. That would have been quite a mess if something would have happened. A truck loaded with LP makes quite a boom when in an accident. I'm sure we have some officers that have some very interesting stories of the accidents they have responded to.

For many years the office where I worked as a police dispatcher had cameras watching the freeways.. over 150 of them. And the two things we saw more than anything else was speed too fast, epically in bad weather, And following too close, ALL THE TIME.

We would see a car go down a ramp, spin out and land in the ditch, and the guy behing him speeds up cause he's now out of the way.. Of course.. Same ditch.

What's that they say...'better late then never' .
That was awful, but will stay in our minds as we drive through the slushy snow.

I still say watch clear black asphalt in the winter, especially if it is close to or just below freezing. There is nothing slicker'n black ice that I've ever seen. In my travels around BC I have seen a lot of people lose out to what the thought was clear dry pavement.

Black ice is impossible. I was always amazed, while living in Atlanta during their ice storms, the number of people that HAD to go to work on that stuff. The pile-ups were never ending. I got caught in one after work and a woman spun out sideways right in front of me...in the parking lot. There were so many cars piled up south bound that I went home on Georgia 85 in the north bound lane. I don't miss it. Bob

This isn't from a police cam but I bet the driver needed a change of underwear, at least if I had been the driver I know I would have needed that change. Please note this is NOT IN ENGLISH
