I think there is a way to move to better paying jobs.
Also think the status quo with low wages and expected tips just perpetuates the poverty level.
I’m not an economist, I’m a retiree with a decent retirement income that allows me to rv IF I’m careful with our money.
I’d like to see better wages paid to all low income earners . Until then, I’ll continue to tip.

The people working at the fast food joints very seldom get a tip, so the company has to pay them more just to keep them.
Ones working at a sit down restaurant can make $15-$20 an hour, or more if they are conscientious, just on tips. We very seldom visit the fast food places, but I do tip the workers at the drive though window at our local restaurant.

I hardly ever tip. I have very good balance so I'm not tip-prone.

Actually, we never eat at restaurants any more because of my wife's GI situation; she does send me out to get takeout food a couple times per week, though.

When we still ate out, I usually tipped around 20%, unless the service was poor.
