Hurricane Ian Recovery: For those interested in helping

The first link is for the official Volunteer Florida website. On that page are official vetted ways to physically volunteer and sometimes virtual volunteering. Click on each blue box for details.
https://volunteer.volunteerflorida.o...69ba43daf8a913

The second link is for the Children Home Society unmet needs list of things to help families and children. While it is also on the main wepbage this link gets right to it.

Thanks

Thanks for that post! Many snowbirds want to help, but unorganized random help seldom turns out in an expected way.

We live in FL and donated to the Methodist Church in Wachula, in very hard hit Hardy County. That way, we know exactly where the money is going and to whom. While the news shows the disaster that happend on the barrier Islands, they have greatly overlooked that Ian visited a large inland area as a cat 3 and caused a lot of flooding that is still going on.
A local charity has a much better idea of who needs help and has far lower administrative costs than some website on the internet.

Thanks for the reminder. Events like this get forgotten about way to soon.

I have my daughter’s family living in Key West and I shudder to think how bad it might have been for them.

Very true, good reminder and a good way to help locally.

I keep my boat in a covered slip on the St Johns River here in central Florida. The houses I drive by on my way to the slip that are on the river are now starting to flood 10 or 11 days after the storm.

@allenb12 and @teamfoxy
Just received this offer of help from FDEM;

“ If you need help with home clean-up from #Ian, contact the @CrisisCleanup Line at 800-451-1954.

Volunteers may be able to assist with:

🌳 Cutting fallen trees
🎛️ Drywall, flooring & appliance removal
🏘️ Tarping roofs
🏚️ Mold mitigation

‼️ Service is free but not guaranteed.”
