Growing up in UT/WY I do miss that 'quiet' of a soft snow storm.
Didn't happen often but was a real experience to be enjoyed vs the High wind/side blowing white out from most snow storms where I lived especially when working 60-90' up in the derrick.
Left in 1972....in 1977 I thought about moving back to WY
Left Sunny/warm Southern Cal for a visit. Got off the plane and stepped right into a blizzard ---- well at least it felt like one.
Spent 2 weeks with my Sister and rarely went outside ----I was COLD
That CURED all 'nostalgia' for me
Dec 2012 we were in the mountains of So Cal when we were FTng
SHE had grown up in Southern Cal....never had seen snow fall. Had seen it in the mountains but never falling
Monday we were suppose to go down from the mountain CG to a CG in the valley
Sunday I suggested we should leave cause it felt like a storm was brewing. Should have but didn't----
Went to bed that night with it snowing.....got up Monday AM and it was Still snowing and did so for next 2 days
SHE got to SEE snow fall and fall and fall
CG was on a hillside so we didn't go anywhere for the next week until we could get 5vr hooked up and with help from CG Staff & truck we finally got to top of CG and out to main road which was plowed
SHE liked the snow falling and remarked about how QUIET it was....she didn't thrill to all the snow piling up
HEY JOE
Have you and Annette gone sledding?
Built a Snowman?
We don't get snow but once in a while---long while!
Couple years ago we got 3-4" so SHE & I had to build a snowman probably the last one I will ever build.
Built him right out on the parkway with Top Hat and Flag. next to the 'Saguaro' Cactus Mailbox stand I had built.
Neighbors got a kick out of him....but he quickly disappeared. So sad.
