I have started a trip on short notice that had me fly from Phx to Washington state to pick up a motorhome and drive it to Nebraska (long story). I took my official absentee mail-in ballot with me to complete and mail on the way. Because of weather, I decided to stay 2 nights at the campground on the Umatilla reservation, which is in northeast Oregon. It is not the edge of the world, but on a clear day you could maybe see it from there.
The date for the ballot still being accepted was approaching, so I asked at the truckstop there if there was an official USPS box nearby. I was directed to a cluster mailbox at the back of the store, where a few different entities receive their mail. It had a small box labled "Outgoing Mail". This really didn't seem very official, but I decided to "git her done" and insert the envelope and hope for the best.
So this was last Saturday at noon. I signed up for texts to track my ballot with the Maricopa County Recorder's Office. On Monday I got a text stating that my ballot had been received by the Recorder and was awaiting signature confirmation.
The next day I received a text that my signature was verified and my ballot had been counted.
I am very impressed, especially with all the bad press this process has been enduring lately
