Today is last day I get to fully enjoy FOOD.
So for Breakfast I had Pancakes, Eggs, Hash Browns, Hot Sausage, Apple Juice & Coffee

Dinner (late lunch...I will have Charcoal Grilled Ribeye, Roasted Red Potatoes (seasoned with Olive Oil, Salt/Pepper, Cayenne), Roasted Brussel Sprouts (Olive Oil, Salt/Pepper, Chipotle) and a couple of Grill Roasted Jalapeno Peppers.

This evening will be Apple Crisp Compote & Vanilla Ice Cream

Tomorrow I start my Pre-Op 2 week 'Bariactic Diet'

I get to have:
Breakfast is 8 oz skim milk, 3/4 cup fruit, 2 scoops of protein powder----Fruit Smoothie
Lunch is 8 oz skim milk & 2 scoops of protein powder----Smoothie
Dinner is 4 oz of Lean meat (Fish, Chicken, Pork---grilled/baked PLAIN) and 1/2 Greens

Repeat everyday for next 2 weeks

Yummmmmmm!

I might not be posting after the 1st week----too weak to type

OMG! That's worse than a Colonoscopy diet.

What kind of surgery are you getting ready for if I may ask?

Well I guess it's both congratulation and I'm sorry. Congratulations on getting the surgery and I'm sorry you can't enjoy one of the great pleasures of life for a while. Best of luck.

I'm getting my 'plumbing' reconnected....at least that is the plan

Jan 12/20 1st surgery to remove fistula, repair bladder wall and remove 12"+ of large colon
Jan 21/20 2nd surgery---emergency still in hospital---repair leakage at connection site, do a looped Ileostomy (to let colon relax/heal) plus drain tube/bag

June 10/20 3rd surgery...another fistula, bladder repair, more colon removed and this time an Colostomy (still had the Ileostomy)

July 20/20 4th surgery...ER 4 am ---bleeding out/ruptured blood vessel in 'Stub'

Oct 19/20 5th surgery to reverse the Ileostomy and allow Colostomy to go full on

Apr 12/21...will be the 6th surgery--- Colostomy Reversal
That is the plan....provided Colon/Stub can be reconnected W/O to much tension and viable material
So I either wake up that Monday AM W/O the Colostomy or I wake up with it still there.
Doc is optimistic BUT cautioned that it MAY not happen as planned.

After the surgery (reversal) I get to continue a Liquid Diet and gradually work my way back to soft foods then light fiber and finally back to normal eating....about 3 month transition if all goes well

Last year was an 'Alice in Wonderland DOWN the Rabbit Hole' adventure to say the least.

Life IS good!

Well.....good luck....you sound like a tough old fart from what you've gone through already!

I know these/those surgeries were even tougher with all the Covid restrictions, especially on the spouse. Last year, I had a knee replacement get infected. I spent nine days in the hospital with no visitors. They had issues figuring out who was paying for a nurse, upon release, for an antibiotic port. I went home the evening of our 43rd wedding anniversary.

Here's hoping you wake up and the bag is gone!!!

Byron, I will be praying for you every day! I know you can take it, even though it won't be fun. Keep us updated when you feel up to it!

I drink a glass of Chocolate Royale SlimFast with skim milk every morning for breakfast. I love it!

OB, with what you have been thru up to this point, the re-connection should be a breeze. Hope that there is enough length to connect.
Prayers to you, the surgeons, and the staff.

Maybe they can find one of those old school Boy Scout bacon stretchers and use it on your colon if you need a couple of more inches. Good luck my friend.
