Lost my DW on Thanksgiving morning.
Barbara Smith, loving wife of BigSkyBob, went on to collect her just reward in heaven on Thanksgiving morning. I laid beside her and held her hand and talked to her so she knew I was there. It's a very difficult experience to witness the one you have spent the majority of your life stop breathing. She fought a long and painful battle with COPD and had been on oxygen for almost 7 years. She contacted pneumonia that left her with little reserve even though she had a strong will to survive. I guess my question is how can a person go on enjoying the lifestyle with an empty co-pilot's seat. Is it possible to see and enjoy all the beautiful things in this country alone? Charlie the Beagle is great company but he doesn't say much and can't read a map. My God, what a void that can't be filled.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my wife 6 years ago and it's not easy but life does go on. It will never be the same again but will be different and new so maybe that can do for awhile. Just have faith she is in a better place than you and is waiting for you. She wants you to go on so go.... and know she is with you...

Sorry for your loss,
God Bless you. Keep her spirit alive in your heart and over time the hurt will soften into joyful memories.
I would imagine from my perspective, traveling alone would be difficult,
I depend on my co-pilot very much.
But if it was what both of you enjoyed, you should be able to get up and go, with her her spirit traveling with you

Bob, I too am so sorry about your loss. Mere words is all I can express. When the time is right you can continue the lifestyle and continue seeing and enjoying and discovering all that this great land has to offer. I suspect you know in your heart - that with the love you shared - you will never be truly alone as you do so.
May God Bless...

Our thoughts & prayers are with you as you grieve your loss. It will be hard but I am sure she would want you to continue on with your travels as I am sure she will be with you in spirit and looking at all the wonders of this world through your eyes. My DW lost both her parents 2 yrs ago within 30 days of each other and every time we come on a beautiful spot in our travels we look at it knowing that they both are looking through our eyes and enjoying it also. Remember all the great times and God be with you.

Dear Bob so sorry for your loss. Losing a mate/friend is a very difficult thing and mere words will not sooth the pain. Be patient with yourself and take care of what has to be be done and then slowly go back to the routine you both had. Eventually time will soften the loss and you will be able to adjust, not right away so be patient. Yes, many people like yourself lose a spouse/companion and eventually return to their usual activities. One never forgets just adjusts.

You have my deepest sympathy, Bob. Take the time to grieve but know you have the love & support of your RV-ing friends here. You may not see it now, but you will know when the time is right to RV again. It will be different yet you may even find comfort in it, knowing Barbara's spirit will be with you as you travel again.

Bob,
I am saddened to hear of this and know our condolences don't do much to help. I hope you find a way to deal with this tremendous loss.
