Mono vision
Anyone who has lost sight in one eye, wondering if you have words of wisdom for me regarding driving and life in general. I go in Wed for a detached retina and I certainly hope it's successfull but I am one who likes to be prepared. Saturday morning I had 20-30 in my right eye and today there's no vision.

I lost the sight ( all except a big blur ) in my right eye about 51 years ago. I was told that I couldn't fly a plane. Unless someone or thing blocks out my left , I hardly notice the loss. I guess I'm used to it as it happened when I was a teenager. Good luck. Hope you won't need to get used to it and get your sight back. By the way , I had a detached Retina that actually healed by itself ( I was young ) The problem is I also have a hole or cyst on the Macular Its the size of a pinpoint ( the Macular ) and they couldn't repair it. Maybe with today's lazers it would have been repairable.

Best of luck.
From your title, I thought you were referring to a procedure I had done where one eye is laser adjusted for distance and the other eye for reading.
The brain is an amazing thing and adapts very well over a relatively short period of time. I very seldom realize that my eyes are different anymore.

OK, post op day 7 and I am home. Had a checkup and the surgeon is pleased, back to him in 4 weeks, to my reg. Opth. on Monday.
From a foot away I can read the IRV2 header in color, very wavy but I am so happy. 3 months is the time frame for max. improvement.

Lets hope this one turns out better for you!
I got lucky with my cataract surgery. After wearing hard contact lenses since 1962 I went to soft lenses for a year (needed that long to get the eye back to normal), then went in for lens replacement. Went fin and rather than 20/800 sight I have 20/10 although it's now 20/15 and SO MUCH BETTER.
