Moving to Full Time RV
My brother lives in CA. He wants to sell and buy a Class B or C coach and live in it full time.
His questions:
How do you full-timers handle your mail when youre wandering around the country?
Is it advantageous to change your address to FL or TX on your DL?
How do you establish your home address if youre mobile? Just Using a family or friends home address?
Thanks for your guidance. Ill pass along any shared ideas and advice.

2, yes.
1, Bs are simply too small for most people and really expensive compared to Cs
3, go to FL, rent a mail box at one of the mail forewording places, get your license and insurance.
Have him join excapers, or at least go to their web site and nose around for himself
He totally want to get out of CA. Taxes, insurance will kill him otherwise.

We are finally selling the Sticks and Bricks and going Full time. We are using our kids mail box and address. If you look at the big picture the taxes and things are not that different when you consider everything. Where you save in one area you pay more in others.

He should also consider possibly going to South Dakota and getting in touch with Dakota Post and establishing residency there , they don't tax your income or retirement income , also there are used class A's for sale that would be just as affordable as a class C. I know of one that would be a bargain.

How old is he?
Medicare or something private?
Last I checked SD & TX don't offer Nationwide Coverage if private med ins
FL did
Otherwise....pick a state, declare it as your Domicile (DL, Registrations --Vehicle/Voter, Mail Forwarding address
Escapees was originally TX but now has outlets in SD & FL
**Note that some finance institutes don't recognize 'PMB' as physical address (Private Mail Box--Mail forwarding Services)
In that case just provide THEM with a family/friends address (ask permission of family/friends)
Rest of mail can go to PMB

SD has WINTER Storms and it would be lousy to have to go get DL renewed during those winter months
DLs expire on birthday...good for 5 years
On-line renewal is possible but only once every 10 years
By Snail Mail is also an option and fairly easy
ALL require Vision Test or Vision Test Statement (no more then 6 months if over 65)

Thanks all. Im passing along the info. One final question: my wife and I reside in TX and Bob asked about using our home address. For those of you in the know, what are the pro and cons of using TX compared to FL and SD?
