MudWasp city

Hi, when i came to this part of texas i always heard about the tons of mosquitos here but they have been the least of my problems.

Other than the tons of nats in the air at night the biggest issue is the stupid mud wasps looking for a home. Every day i go outside i have to fight off 2 or 3 of them.

They are either looking for a home or they are having sex cause they are carrying each other around like a double sack race. Then there are the black ones that chase you.

I will get some wasp spray when i go to the store after payday so i can kill them when i see them, but how to keep them away from here is my question.

Anyone know of a wasp repellent candle or something?

If you don't already have them, go to the closest RV parts store, and get the wire mesh covers for all of your RV's holes...furnace, hot water heater vents, etc.

I covered all my holes the same day I drove mine home. Bought the covers at the RV lot before I even drove off the lot.

Exactly what we did. We also put pet flea collars in the propane, fridge & water heater compartments. We buy new ones each year. In 18 years of RV-ing, we've not had an issue with anything trying to nest in our compartments. As a matter of fact, I've transferred the same can of wasp spray to 3 different RV's & have yet to have to use it.

Be sure you have screens for the fridge vent like these: https://www.amazon.com/Camco-42149-F.../dp/B0024E6UE0. Some folks overlook that since the openings face downward.

I don't know if you have the HWH leveling system or not.. But if you do ... there are little vent holes on the front and rear 6 packs of solenoids ... and the buggars like to plug them up, if your leveling goes wonky check the 6 packs first.

Some refrig makers specifically warn against using screens with their models. It has to do with restricting air flow. So to protect any applicable warranty check your specific model prior to any screen use.

This has been a particularly bad year for them in western Louisiana. Yesterday while I had the engine cover off changing out spark plugs and plug wires I had 5 or 6 of them get inside over the course of a couple of hours. Thankfully it seems they are drawn to light, or maybe heat so when they would get near the door I would open it and they would tend to fly right out.

We recently camped at a rv park in Grove OK on Grand Lake. We have never had wasp problems like that ! They were mud daubers, (sp?) It wasn't 5 minutes and they were climbing in holes like the bumper, under the trailer,,, geez... We went to town and bought some wasp spray, I sprayed a lot of openings , kept them out till we left ... grrrrrr Might try the flea coller thing....

I find that spiders here work very quickly to dominate anything new to the area. I left my truck parked for 2 days and in that time they had build webs covering 3 of my 4 wheel wells top to bottom and also the grill area. They sure are talented boogers.

I have lived in Ohio, California, IL, AZ, CO, NM, and NV but always lived in the big city or in town somewhere. This is actually my first environment where i seem to be fighting for my place in the eco-system. If i dont put my foot down and demand my place here the critters and bugs will overtake me and the trailer and dominate it all. I have just never been in an environment where i had to fight for my place so hard lol...

Two days till payday and i am getting more bug spray, lawn spray, and weed killer. If i cant keep them down one way then ill take their environment away so they go somewhere else lol I am almost afraid what im gonna find up under the trailer when i go looking. Ill be they have that pretty much locked down lol..

When i was doing my laundry in the laundry room down the street here there were 3 huge webs in there from the ceiling. All three im pretty confident were from the brown recluse, thats what it looked like to me. A spider that if bitten and you dont get help pretty quick your done for, a pretty bad character. But the owners dont seem to mind of they would get rid of them. I guess its better to have spiders than mosquitos and nats.
