Ken's son Zane is recreating his father's bus, Further, for a 50th anniversary ride.
The new Further is on the left, the original 1939 bus is on the right.

Very cool that his son is recreating the bus (where did you find the picture?).
While Jack may have not done much with Ken and the Merry Pranksters, his "best friend" Neal Cassidy did and drove the bus with them....
On the Road is my favorite book.
Jack's first book, The Town and the City is a great read too (not so much stream of concious writing style) and also one of my all time favorites. One of the things that make it so appealing is that it is amazing how many things going on in the early '40s have been repeated in a similar mannner / similar circumstances since, and too often, in not the best things in our society.....
Regards!

My how time flys. I found it on the net of course lol. But looks like "Furthur 2.0" toured in 2014 after raising over $40k on Kickstarter. You can follow Zane on FB. But we missed this one too, to and two. But the Pranksters live on.

If ya haven't started filling Zane on FB... this from someone on the wall... completed with pictures.
"I got to ride on the Further bus today with Bill Walton. Such a cool guy! He's announcing the Ducks game tonight on PAC 12 channel. There will be video footage of the bus ride during the game."
Here's Bill, like Neal, behind the wheel.

We don't do FB, so thanks for the post above. I can certainly see Bill Walton driving the bus; good for him. He was (still is?) a hippie at heart!
I remember the story of John Wooden vs. Bill's long hair. To paraphrase: John, "Bill, I appreciate your standing on your principles and not cutting your hair, so I am sure you appreciate me standing by my principles, and not letting you play if you don't cut it." As usual, John made his point, and his payers, including Bill, paid attention. Not that my hair was any shorter than Bill's at that time!

Fortunately he wasn't Sampson Walton. He was terrific to watch. We now return to long and winding posts.
