A big box comes to mind. If it's from Ikea, don't assemble it until the final destination. You could also rent a U-Haul trailer and haul it yourself, put it on the roof of your Toad in a box or crate, or pay a trucking company to ship it. A few more details would help us be more creative.

no affiliation and no direct experience - others have told me they have used them and it worked out.

If no rush / timetable - I have contacted a local mover and they moved a bedroom suite for me. They should be able to do better w/ flexibility to piggy back on a load headed that way.

There's an app(?) called "Roadie" that connects shippers (you) with normal folks that are headed that direction anyway. It's supposed to be cheaper for you and get them some gas money for a trip they were making anyway.

I've never used it, just looked at it out of curiosity.

Not sure where you're headed in Iowa, but I did a quick check on U-haul one-way rentals from Mesa to Demoine and their smallest enclosed trailer is only $54 for a one-way rental...

I doubt you'll be able to beat that for shipping any other way.

Of course you have to add in the additional cost of fuel and potential aggravation of towing a trailer on your trip...

Good luck with what ever you chose!
