Ok, I would like some info/ideas about renting a Class A in New Jersey and driving it out west toward Jackson Hole that area. Have plenty of over the road experience (retired truck driver) .
What kind of expense am I looking at say for gas/diesel 6 or 7 mpg? cost for hooking up at campgrounds etc. Thanks in advance.

Before you figure the added expenses of driving it, check the excess mileage charges on the rental MH.
Back when I was looking, it got very expensive, once you put over 400 miles on it.

Welcome to IRV2.
Fuel cost is a moving target , You can check " Gas buddy.com " while your on the road for the best prices on route ; to keep the cost down; if you look at the Gas Buddy web page you can find state wide averages and right now in the planning stages , that would be your best bet.
RV park pricing can vary greatly with the season , some parks reduce price in off season : not summer; others close for many months of the year across the northern plains, starting as early as Labor Day . Could you add your dates of travel to your post.

Get a Passport America card to get discounts at member campgrounds. You will save the cost of the card the 2nd place you use it. When you get the card ask for a directory to be sent to you.

You didn't say how long you planned on the trip. But just as a guide Cruise America with a class C 30' will cost about $5500 with an allotment of 2500 miles. This was based on a 25 day rental, (they don't quote over 26 days online). We're talking about serious costs here. This doesn't even count tolls,or fuel costs.

TonyDi is correct. You will need a bank loan for a 3-4 week trip. We actually looked early last year and a 4 week trip was going to run us in excess of $6000 for just the rig and probably would be more as I am sure I underestimated the amount of miles. When we crunched the numbers we actually went out and bought a MH instead.
The rest of the costs such as campgrounds, food, fuel, sight seeing will all depend on what you want and what you do.
