Now this is a new one on me !!!
Those of you with front and rear license plates, have you looked to see if they are the same ?
Went to get my inspection done today and the tech @ McClain's here in Fort Worth asked me to come out and see something funny !!!
I did NOT chuckle when one is different from the other !
My guess is whomever put the tags on mine last time crossed their hands and put the rear old one on the front ?!?!?
this outta be fun !

You get 'New' license plates each year vs just a new sticker?
We just get a sticker that goes on same old plate....rear one (CA and now AZ)
Course in AZ we only get ONE license plate!
Sounds like a full day at your local DMV to get 'NEW SET' of license plates issued and new registration card
Or remove old front one---------hang it up in garage and then tell DMV need new front. Course you will still probably end up with a new set and corresponding registration card.

PA is doing away with registration stickers altogether. They have the technology to scan the plate into a database which will let them know if it is current.
I'm mostly glad PA never went front plate. Just kills the front aesthetics of a nice car.

Colorado is a two plate required state- as in front and rear. Renewal is a sticker put on the rear plate. You would be surprised at how difficult folks make this.

Same as WA. And we have the same troubles here. I saw a TX plate with no year or month sticker on it just yesterday.
People leave the front plate off thinking it's not needed because there's no month or year sticker on it, even though the yearly registration papers say the front plate is still required. Some put the year sticker on the rear plate and the month on the front and vice versa. People just can't understand easy directions it seems.

Are they both yours? I had a visit from the police recently and they had the rear plate from my car. They had arrested someone with a stolen car and they switched both front and rear plates with those of other same model cars. Many people won't notice a plate is different, although they may notice if the plate is missing, hence the switch.

Tx has two plates.
inspection sticker and tags (sticker) up to now,
they are doing away with the inspection sticker and combining it with the tags... so you can only pay and get your tags once it is inspected and sent to the state...
bad thing for the inspection station is now they get $7 from us and the state gets the rest...
The inspection stations are losing out big time !

Plus they replace the tags every 7 years but should have the same number unless they just bought it and the dealer had a brain fart.

Yep,
went by the dmv today and got new plates and new inspection sticker to match since your plate # is on the sticker...
BUT, couldn't pay my tags, the inspection I had done had not been entered in the system - DOOH !
should have known they would have messed up...
my brain fart for not bringing it with me even though they said it was entered...
now gotta go back and stand in line again - can't do it online now that I have new plates !?!
but oh by the way, I have to wait 48 hours ?!?
and OH, they are closed Thursday, Friday, and Monday !!!!
so Tuesday's the earliest and I taking the rv out that day !
and yes, the front plate was the old plate number...
guessing the dealer crossed their hands
oh well, glad someone caught it before Mr LEO, checked it

Odd problem. My inspection was in the computer system in the time it took me to drive about 8 miles...
Now that everything I have is under the new system, seems to be an improvement--except for the inspection on the trailer which I had ignored for many years, but its only $7.

Yep Wingnut, what I thought too...
I went to McClains on 35w and they SAID they put it in, but the next day when I went to Mansfield office - they said nope - not there
so guess I'll run out to storage south of Burleson, get my paperwork and go back to Mansfield ... typical run around during the transition it seems.

Very odd--if you got an inspection form, it had to be generated by the state inspection computer, which should be a direct connection to the state system. Once the VIN is inputted, and the form with "Passed" is filled out, should have been automatic.
Oh, well....

In New York state the computer for inspections generates one copy of the inspection results. I also make a second copy to keep in our files in the shop. I give the customer one copy and tell him or her to carry it along with their registration and insurance card so they have proof the vehicle or trailer was actually inspected. I also tell the customer to take the inspection report with them if they go to the license bureau. The folks at the bureau seem to love paperwork. It never hurts to have too much information with you.
The report is also forwarded to the main frame DMV computer. No doubt a glitch can occur somewhere. I know at the end of the business day if the inspections were recorded in my computer when the computer spits put a summary sheet for the day's inspection activity but I have no way of knowing if it got received by the DMV's computer.
