My suggestion is to go mattress shopping. Lay down on every one that you can - Regular, Foam, Pillow Top - all of them.
We did that and ended up with a Sterns & Fosters Pillow Top. But that's what we liked and our budget went from $400 - $500 to spending just over $700 instead. We tried everything from a $100 mattress to a $6000 mattress. Oh the $6000 one was the "best" foam around and we could not stand it. For us foam is the worst thing available for mattress's but that's us.

Bought a sultran mattress from Ikea.

Added a 2" memory foam topper to it and we sleep well.

We've had Select Comfort Sleep Number mattresses in our RV and house for many years. We love them!

I wonder how different that would be from putting our down comforter under instead of over us?

Hard to say but this thing is a lot thicker IMHO then a down comforter.

It is always hard to recommend something, and you guys may hate it, but it saved up from having to buy a new mattress.

Maybe try your comforter first and see how if it does the trick.

We are not full timers, so we dont sleep on it every single night.

Hope that helps !

We remodeled the queen to a california King and went with the new "Latex" as it is much cooler than foam. Expensive yes, but we will take it to the next coach also.

Your mattress in our new RV tt was so crappy, you could feel the wood under it. The factory offered up to $250 to remedy the poor quality. We ended up buying two 2" thick mattress toppers from Amazon. (we have two queen size bunk beds). What a difference.....Pictures of cutting the toppers They (Dutchman) should have been ashamed of the product they used inside the mattress's....It was a joke....

DW and I were having this discussion two weeks ago. Our original RV mattress is two years old and pretty much toast. It sags in the middle already, so no amount of foam will make it right. We are also limited to a short Queen as our dresser is infront of the bed and the the mattress touches the dresser when the slideout is in. We are pretty sure its gonna be a foam mattress. Now to choose the right one.
