Last Fall my 3 toys headed back into the shop to hibernate for the winter.

I think I heard some rumbling out there the other day, maybe it's time to wake them up.

Great Car! Late 60's dad got a 1965, 4 spd, 4 carb, Covair Corsa. Think it was rated at 140 HP. As I recall there was a turbocharged model that had 180 hp.

Anyway... that little car with 140 hp could really shat n' get!

Ralph Nader - had no idea what he was talking about. Just wanted t sell his book... Unsafe At Any Speed! He was an idiot regarding the Corvair.

Always loved Corvairs. Personally thought that they looked very sleek and European.

1973 Opel GT

Below is a picture of my 1973 Targa Opel GT. I have owned it since 1992.
It was extensively modified for the targa roof conversion. It has a 2.4L efi engine, coupled to a Getrag 5 speed, running 3.44 gears. The car also has a 4 wheel disk conversion. Way to many items have been installed to cover here.

The second car was one of many I restored while working for Opel GT Source. Took this basket case of a shell, and turned it into a Conrero tribute car. The original car is in Belgium, owner by Maurice Van Sevecote.
A couple pics. of me working on it.

The third car was my second high school car. Purchased it from a wrecking yard (minus the cylinder head) for $500. the small 1.9L engine had a DeLong circle track cam 292 duration with .450 lift at .050. That cam made no power until 3000 rpm, but would scream up to 7,400 rpm quickly after that. Sold that car back in the 90s.

Currently restoring a friends 69 Opel GT, and then I can get back on my project 1973 Manta.

This week’s toad(s): 2010 and 2012 Polaris EV with Nissan Leaf Li-ion batteries. Twice the range, about 600 lbs less weight, more ground clearance, and they go anywhere any sane person would try to go. And then some. Also won’t start fires in dry grass, weeds, brush etc. and they are quiet so we can sneak up on wildlife including big horn sheep, wild horses and burros, foxes, etc. Currently exploring in central Nevada. Found open mine shafts, some debris from a 50 year old A7 crash, hot springs, and a lot of old mining junk.

Having been a high elevation, low population density Sierra mountain man during a long ago decade in my life... I can say... you have the best way to do RV play that I've seen on this forum!! Congrats!!!

My contribution - not necessarily American muscle - but the Germans do know a thing or two about building great machines
