Puck Light Rant and Rave

I am always grabbing my flashlight in my TT to look at the under bed storage. But then I thought- hey great place to install a battery operated "puck" light or light bar. I know I need to use patience when looking at the reviews of these things but man, hundreds of reviews, hundreds of brands. Many of these things apparently eat batteries by the day. Which one to buy?

I have a Lowes close by- but every review for a specific light bar is 5 stars. How can that be?

Amazon- yeah plenty of reviews, but the reviews are after using for one day on lights that tend to eat batteries. Be nice if reviewers would at least use them before reviewing. On reading Amazon reviews I always sort by most recent- this ensures if company changes manufacturers and quality goes downhill, I'll spot it.

Walmart- would like to pick up today- shoot good luck with that!

Any ideas which brands work?

Thanks

Billy, I wouldn't worry about battery life in that application, since it will be on so infrequently. They won't use battery power when not on.

Great minds think alike.....

I had to stop and think how many of these I have : https://www.amazon.com/Garrity-Batte.../dp/B000FLESYI

Two at home, one in MH basement, and 8 velcroed to my ceiling and inside cabinets around and about my MH.

Started with the older, battery burning bulbs, and slowly changed all over to the more conservative LEDS.

Rocky- I have one enroute- thanks for pointing that one out to me. Amazing how many that are out there.

MS- The reviews almost make it sound like some kind of parasitic charge is draining the battery on some of these (kind of like leaving your inside light on in your truck overnight). The reviews are all over the place, but Rocky set me straight.

Thanks to all.

Bill

Man, you really overthought this. I have a bunch of these from HF, $3.20 with a coupon. I stick them everywhere. It's hardly worth putting new batteries in them unless you get 'em in bulk at Costco...

I wanted a red night light for the bathroom. Red light isn’t supposed to wake up your brain as much as other colors making it easier to go back to sleep with an empty bladder.

What I found was a motion activated LED toilet light which I attached to a shelf instead the toilet rim. Amazon sells LOTS of them in LOTS of colors. I won’t recommend this one as 2 of the 3 lights were DOA and will be returned soon. You might find something else that suits your needs. Motion activated will prolong battery life.

I also have three of these lights. As far as batteries, buy the ones from Harbor Freight. $3.99 for 24 batteries.
You can replace the batteries 6 times for that price.

I put velcro on the back for easy removal.

I have those HF lights all over my garage. One is by the entry door on the MH in the inside. Two in the large storage bay. Click image for larger version

I also use button lights that stick anywhere. I got mine at Big 5 on a whim but they work fine. I put two in my Jeep by the visors for map lights.
