My Sis and BIL had an spud cannon back in the 70's. Consisted of a 4-5' chunk of PVC tubing with a cap at the back end. They would use various gasses) propane or ?? to shoot potatos or apples 600' or so. Not sure of the fusing method but it worked very nicely.
