The reason that you always have a surplus of coat hangers, but can never find a bottle opener when you need one, is that the bottle opener is the larval stage of the coat hanger.

I thought socks were the larval form of wire coat hangers - somehow they travel, maybe through another dimension, from the dryer to the closet, undergoing metamorphosis along the way - all unseen by human eyes - or maybe by any eyes - might even be a quantum change, going from one time/place/form to another instantaneously without ever being in the time/space/form in between the dryer and the closet.
