Now if you kept going north and east through Sault Ste. Marie on Hwy. 17 for about 4-5 hours you would be at our place! (full hookups, lol). We were in Mackinaw last summer. Super area!

So here's a thought - FERVMMRNYECC 123115...

I have just started researching the possibility of wintering in AZ in 2015 - 2016 and thinking about leaving Bonita at the RV park and driving over to San Diego - hopping on a Norwegian Cruise and doing the First Ever RV Mutant Mexican Riviera New Years Eve Curiosity Cruise... so... talk amongst yerselves....

Annie just pointed out that Christmas may place home town demands on some so date is flexible - even to Valentines Day... or so..

I couldn't get Kate on a cruise ship in a hundred years, even if we won free tickets. We went to Club Med in Cancun 5 or 6 years ago and after a couple of margaritas I got her on a catamaran sail boat for a scuba diving excursion to Isla Mujares. I had wanted to do a Caribbean cruise, but she said, loudly, "NICHT!" So, we refer to our Club Med vacation as "the land cruise."

Do the mutants ever gather at RV parks or campgrounds? That we would do. I get such a kick out of reading everyone's post. Would love to meet this tribe! I am SO proud to have a RVM #. I want a RVM badge to sew on the shoulder of my blue jean jacket.

BTW, the knee is coming along. Return to work--no driving--will likely be Sept. 5. Pray for me. I'm just rotten now; eating ice cream, having Kate wait on me, watching Netflix movies all day long. It's a tough life. .... Wait ... the physical therapist comes tomorrow. Where is my dang pain medicine?

So I take it you won't be going on a mutant cruise. --

Actually - I have never been on a cruise. And I do have a bunch of suggestions in for SOGC locations but as I have said before... it takes a bit of coordination and time to pull that all together. By Dec 5th I should be settled in enough to really work on the SOGC.. and anyone else is welcome to take a stab at it before hand..

It does seem that since I started doing retirement type things - cruise lines - credit card companies and lord knows who all want to hook me up with something - scooters - bathtubs - Vilas - condos - retirement communities - rv lots - lol..

So when whoozits with cruises called the other day we talked about cruises. Just tossed it out there Tim since you have been on a cruise since the thread began - Sue has been on 4 or 5 - Dave and Nola have 1 a year in their "plans" and Don and Colleen cruise... and others - so I thought it might be something to think about. Especially given the proximity of San Diego to AZ - or cruises out of FL for wintering mutants... seemed like a good idea at the time.

So Mel - we got together 1 time before - and will plan another - and mini-c's happen with more and more frequency.

Edit in testing the link - looks like you may have to pop it a time or two to get it to behave...

Take a look and peruse the rest of the website too... we have a great group - and every last mutant is a rainbow riding winner!

Elizabeth - your mugs are on the way...

Mel - I can get ya some mugs but the patch is on hold for now. Maybe in March LOL.

Later mutants...

Di - it had slipped my mind that you stared in episodes of the Love Boat as the painting and art instructor.. and we have pet caregivers in KS and AZ...

Annie is a little cruise shy - but is also intrepid. So anything is possible. LoL.. from the itineraries I've looked at - seems the land travel is the least of it - very little time alloted to actually see layovers - and plenty of time to see shows - wine and dine - gamble - relax etc on board. Who couldn't find a way to enjoy that?

Oh well - just a ponder and filed under the heading of get busy mutating....

Herb the flyover and cruise around the islands then fly back is what we did. The riding the boat over OR back involves 4 days at sea, which is a lot of time on a boat and out at sea it tends to be a little rough compared to sailing near shore. We have cruised a lot and find anything more than 1 day on boat boring as I don't gamble and can't drink that much! Lol

Can't drink that much.... well you can work on that... but I know you can eat your weight in mutant meals.... lol...

So as it is - aren't the port times like 8 hours - back on ship - underway 3 hours then 5 hours in port - rinse repeat. They all look to be about as much time in port as tour bus in the Badlands or Custer or Grand Canyon. Enough to wet yer whistle then off again. You get a taste but to really see a stop - you would have to go back. Looks more like a marathon on land to me than anything else. But again - never been on a cruise....
Been on a gambling boat - twice outta Port Canaveral Fla... that was fun!!

Each stop will vary some longer than others and some for two days at a stop. There is the option to set up excursions that depart from the dock and transport you to a site and back or you can be on your own, just don't miss the boat. We have seen people left on the dock because the boat was pulling away.

Many trips we plan excursions for several days then if there is not a day at sea planned in will just do a rest day to regenerate. Cruising is lots of fun, lots of food but lots of people. Although we have Never had any issues, we have been on rough seas where many people were nauseous and the smell of vomit present. The ships are quick to clean up any problems, but hard to unsee or un smell something's.lol Again, we have never experienced any problems ourselves, but that's the reason we avoid open sea travel.

We have some in our group that only get off the boat every couple of days due to age and mobility issues. When ships are at dock the casinos are closed but I'm not sure about the bars. But there are buffets our something to eat all the time! Good thing they don't charge you by the pounds gained.

Departing on the suggested trip from west cost would not be an option for us. Currently have family wanting to do England, Norway, Sweden and Russia. We are watching the Russia -Ukraine issue closely.

The itineraries show you port timing. When we did the NE fall colors cruise, we were in port overnite at 4 stops. Depending on the cruise, some stops are quickies, some are longies.
While underway, we played mini golf, climbed the wall on the top deck, and played a ton of trivia games. Those and "Adult Quest" 😙😜 (I will not show pics of me on this) kept us superbly busy, and got me named "Queen of the Ship".
As we went ashore at the end of the "Journey", the cruise director met us on the gang plank and declare to all that "This man had more fun on this cruise than anyone"!
This was on Royal Carribean lines.
A mid-ship stateroom with balcony was a MUST for us. Contemplating navel time and enjoying the fresh ocean breeze while looking at mostly nothing is all it is cracked up to be.
