We finally found the RV we have been looking for, after TT camping with a 27ft Salem we now have a 1990 36ft Coach. We are getting ready to start FT in Oct. when wife retires. We don't need or want all the bells and whistles and payments of a big fancy rig, just something nice and built well. There are just the two of us so we don't need the slides as far as we can tell. Being on fixed income, we just want to travel see places and meet and greet new friends all over this great land. Hope we would be welcome into your outfit, wife is a people person for sure me, I like to cook and am an exceptional listener, had throat cancer and can't talk so there you go, good listener.
We live just outside Columbus, Ohio and, it looks like there are already some members in Ohio so good deal. Hoping to meet a lot of you in the years coming.
Thank You and God Bless

I'm a live and let live advocate. I covered the pail with a towel, wired it on and took it out in the country and let it go out in a field. That was a buzz dealing with that! I couldn't deal with its mood swings to keep as a mascot. It always seemed hissed of.
As to the search for a new coach, I think I'm up to about 10,323 views of coaches. About $9,000 were out of my price range, 1,000 were over priced pieces of junk and 320 were guys that wanted my money up front and they'd send the coach to me as soon as they got back from their medical operation in Spain.
Of the 3 remaining I did like, they were all in the eastern US and by the time I took time off work to go look at it, buy it and drive it back, the cost is prohibitive.
The search continues.....money is in the bank.

Good morning my fellow mutants! It's been quite a week in the RVMdom. On 7/30/13 the illustrious mutant Possum joined us as RVM40 and just this morning we have welcomed adamfolger (who apparently is not named Adam) as RVM41 and wthur and DW Judy as RVM42.
When I kicked this thread off on 4/14/13 - describing RVM1s ponderance on not having nor missing the things his Serrano Fred didn't have - I had no idea if others would relate to Daves' dilemma the way I did. But I knew that there was something there - a wisdom for seeing the beauty in our rigs and the lifestyle they provide. Almost 4 months later we are 42 mutants strong and 2,217 posts into the adventure and still growing. Each mutant following their dream, from weekend warrioring to full timers - and everything in between. Each making the journey their destination and doing it their way.
Our requirements are simple - ya have a rig - it is missing some things and you don't miss those things one bit. And - the journey is your destination. I sometimes think that second part is the key to it all. Unlike other "RV clubs or groups" the how or what (the rig) isn't our concern. It's the mindset and love of RVing coupled with the knowledge that plans change, things happen, and a place is just a place. It's the journey that we're on and how we approach it that really matters.
We have mutants with home built units, units in rehab, bus conversions, shadowcatch(ers) teardrop, TTs, 5ers, C's and all manner of machines old and young. RVMs are all younguns in spirit, thought and deed - no matter their chronological age.
I am proud of our growing group of mutants - we police our posts and stick to the forum rules and share our RV and life experiences freely. It just don't get no better than that! As you visit other threads on the forum - be on the lookout for RVMs in need of technical or other support and inquiry. Cause nothing says RVM more than lending a hand or extending the hand of friendship. We may have a monkey mascot (Barb Okmunky - RVM18s full timing travel companion Sena) and live on the rainbow - but our monkey business is first rate.

Gary & Marian, Walt & Judy -- RVMs 41 & 42 -- you all are SO in with this (in) crowd! Come along for the ride and be welcome.
On our brand new coach, we currently have 2 out of 3 slides that don't work properly, a sewage system that smells up the coach, and an awning that sags to one side. I wouldn't miss any of those! Papa Thor promises to fix all that & more, starting Monday, so we are still happy campers.
Add to that, we get to meet Sky_Boss and DW this evening, our first face-to-face meeting w/ another RVM. I'm as nervous as a teenager getting ready for a blind date!
It's only a dinner date, since our Bella Rigatoni is not seaworthy until Papa Thor has done his magic (in dry dock?), so it doesn't really qualify as a Curiosity. We hope to remedy that ASAP by spending a weekend at Don & Sandee's current CG.
Coffee's done, disco ball is ready to go, and the cats need carrying to board at the vet's, so I'll see y'all later.
Cheers!
Sue RVM 36

Good day all RVMU folks. I was wondering what one needs to become a Mutant? The DW and I are on our 9th year on our trawler, which is for sale, and now we really want to do the RV lifestyle. We are definitely the journey is the dream people. When asked where we are going we point and say "that way". We carry everything we own on our boat, and if we don't have it, found we don't need/want it. Hope it doesn't disqualify us, but we do have a few rope lights (Christmas decos). Been heavily researching Motorhomes, and can't wait to hit the road. Will gladly submit an application with other qualifications. (Suspect IQ, DIY fanatic, beer contaminated blood, pet lover etc). My hops are high for my acceptance in your illustrious group. We await your decision with bated breath!

To much dang beer if your hops are high, for sure.
I can't make you a mutant, but your are probably qualified because of the trawler. That's like camping, right?

Oh Happy Day! 3 new RVMs today!
Mike and Harriet, welcome to RVMdom! You are RVM43.
You have a trawler, are looking for an RV, dont have what you dont need, and the journey is your destination.
Rope lights: I do not have nor need, but cannot disqualify you for having such a thing that is not an official qualification. ;-)
Steve, RVM2, official roster master of RVMdom, great grand poobah originator of this thread, and all around Mutant Extraordinare, will add you to the roster.
3 new RVMs, 6 wonderfully Mutated folks.
Welcome!!!!

^^^ Mike and Harriet - the qualifications are to simple - have an RV - it doesn't have some things and you don't miss those those things, And the journey is your destination. We currently have a member who recently sold his Motorhome and is looking for the next one. So checking with legal counsel here at RVM Central HQ - we have an opinion that there is precedent for membership w/o having a Land based RV. In further support of your membership request is the trawler and lifestyle choice you have exhibited, and the expressed desire to roll on land rather than water.
Unlike some groups - we have few to no hoops so Welcome RVM43. While you are shopping for an RV keep in mind - ya need not have every bell and whistle - but make sure the machine is sound and you are comfortable. It's the RVM way! If you have questions - hit the big forum - but feel free to ask us as well. We'll do our best to provide free advice at a price you can afford.
Keep us informed of your search and if you have time - tell us a little more about your bucket. We love good stories of adventure and living the good life. And - while rope lights are controversial - I have them as do some others. We have no exclusionary clauses in the RVM bylaws.
Bow get that bucket sold and join us on the road. It can take months and months to find the right rig so start now! What's your pleasure - unknown - Class A - B - C - C+ - TT - 5er - popup?? We mutants are known far and for our inquiring minds. The M in Mensa stands for Mutant.
Welcome RVM43!
RVM2 - Steve and Annie

Sorry fat fingers! As I started to say "oh happy happy". One more thing off my bucket list! DW has always believed I mutated from something, just couldn't pinpoint the source. 30 years working in strange locations (submarines 10, coal mining 20) has convinced her of my Mutant characteristics. As to my ride of the moment, it's a 1986 42' trawler. And as is my nature it's been modified, improved, babied so that its better and more seaworthy than the day it launched. Even custom built a de-salination system, so we could take a 6 month trip to the Bahamas and only spend 7 days not on anchor (nautical boondocking). I love to tinker/improve my toys, so looking forward to doing same to our wheeled abode when we get. I will enjoy stealing oops, I mean borrowing all the great ideas this great forum has. Thanks so much for allowing our unworthy selves to be included in this exclusive group of sentient beings. I look forward to meeting as many if y'all as possible soon. By the way we are huge Alabama football fans. Sorry any Auburn people. Roll tide!
