Was sitting at the table yesterday afternoon noodling around online. It was windy and raining outside. Glanced out the window and said, "that's not rain". Yep, it was sn*w. And blowing sideways. Ended up with maybe an inch. Happy ending to the story though, it's all melted away by now...

I started checking around the coach and noticed the smell was strongest in the rear area. Then noticed that the 120V system was out. Got dressed and went outside to check the pedestal, everything OK there. Opened the utility bay door, OK there's the smell. Surge guard was OK. Heard a sound inside the junction box, unplugged the coach, removed the lid. Oh, here's the problem, piece of burnt wire with remains of melted wire nut attached. OK need to fix that in the daylight. Second problem, 12V system has been acting up, not functioning without shore power. Get out the battery charger and extension cord, jump the coach batteries from the pedestal. There, 12V power good, back to bed.
Saturday daylight, outside to fix the burnt wire. This is the second time it has happened, did it last Fall so I know what to do. Trimmed the burnt wire, redid the connection, everything good for now. Will putz with the 12V later, today is supposed to be travel day. Glad I packed up almost everything Friday.
Now, the question is: why is this connection burning? It's a stranded wire attached to a solid wire. Is it overheating and igniting the plastic wire nut, or is it coming loose and arcing? I moved the connection outside the junction box this time so I can keep an eye on it and make sure the wire nut stays tight. I made sure the wires are away from anything flammable just in case. Unfortunately. if it happens again I may not have enough wire coming out of the utility bay ceiling to work with...

I would replace the wire nut with a small brass wire clamp. Overheating is a bad connection. Could be to much current for the connection surface area assuming the wire size is not overloaded.

Well me and big sister just walked in from counting cows and waiting on supper.
The twins update, Finn is up near his birth weight breathing good and might be released except mom, needs to be there with both cause Fletcher is having a hard time nursing and O2 levels up and down. They will not release Fletcher till they can see he can get proper nourishment without using the feeding tube. He has improved but not enough. Children's hospital is a great place, they said if they do release Finn he will be able to remain in the room with mom at no charge.
I took big sister up today for a visit, man are they small, but physically look better than Saturday night when they were admitted.
