It really is a big difference. But then again - 17 is a most deceiving 3k feet. It's a haul. And the traffic is what makes it worse than it should be. Ya can't stay in the left lane unless you want to take the runs at 70 mph cause the cars will eat ya alive from behind, and ya can't take the right lane cause many of the semis can't do over about 40. So lots of jockeying for position. But so worth it!

According to Google Maps US 20 is 1.5 hours faster and 140 miles shorter than I-84 to I-5. And the long route takes you thru Portland which can be a traffic nightmare.

Being a vast wasteland much of the way you'll be able to make good time on US 20.

There are a few things along I-84 that more leasurely travelers shouldn't miss. I'll post in detail about those in mid July.

Sounds like a scary storm! I hope that board is in a field and not thru a window or a cow!

Only Sue would plant a flower bed around the satellite dish.

Only Sue would plant a flower bed around the satellite dish. ....around here, folks flip old huge satellite dishes andd turn them Into perpetual salad bowls with some soil and seeds...I keep telling Mark my youngest whose house has no basement, to dig a pit, put pallets in the bottom and get an old big satellite dish to invert over it and cover with soil from pit so they have some sort of tornado shelter.

That is enough wood to keep you cozy all winter. Oh, but you don't stay there in the winter. Plenty to share then. At least you won't have to wait for the wood to dry out.

Here's what I figured using Rand McNAlly mapping:

Boise to Idanha using route US 20 - 392.5 miles & 7 hr 51 min

Boise to Salem to Idanha staying on Freeway most of the way - 530.6 miles & 8 hr 38 min

Boise to Biggs Junction US 97 to Redmond to Idanha - 519.5 miles & 9 hr 2 min

Boise to Idanha using route US 26 - 397.2 miles & 8 hr 1 min

By staying on the freeway to Salem, you put on a lot more miles and 37 minutes more in time.

Between route 20 & route 26 - I also recommend route 26 for the scenery.

As of now, we will be driving down thru Biggs Junction on 97 to Redmond since we are coming from the north and not Boise. We are stopping to see some friends on the way. Otherwise the freeway route for us would be about a half hr shorter time and only 11 miles longer.

So the moral of this story - it all depends on your preferences and which directions you hale from.

I use to have rodent issues in the RV and the basement areas. After installing multiple strobe lights, them critters have moved on.

RVM roster

What is the Post Number of the listing of the most up-to-date RVM roster? I went back and scanned through the last 30 -40 pages of posts but with no success.

I would like to print a roster for easy look-ups.

I doubt the dish will provide much protection since most of them are aluminum and well, you might as well put cardboard above you, would work just as well and doesn't cut as badly.
