Speaking of gatherings. . . . . . .
Mary Ann and I want to visit and REvisit some natural wonders in Colorado and Utah. We have some definite plans. We're leaving home of July 16th to get to Oregon.
I thought I would check out the availability of campsites near our planned stops. OMG, we've been forced to make more reservations for this trip than any 3 of our other trips across this fine country (including Alaska). To snuggle up close to a particular national park (with its beauty and remoteness) you need reservations or you have to depend on sheer luck to find a spot. So we have spaces reserved in Estes Park, Canon City, Montrose, Dolores, Moab & Idanha. A total of 29 days. We're "wingin' it" for about 17 other days.
Our "travel model" has been destroyed. Reservations needed. Even boondocking near some of our destinations would be out of the question (mountain after mountain after mountain). I don't like pulling out on to a scenic turnout on a mountain road to spend the night.
Looking forward to 5,000 miles behind the wheel like you wouldn't believe. If you don't know what's on the other side of the next hill, that makes it worth looking at . . . . . for us.

Don't mean to hog the thread but . . . . . Mary Ann and I are celebrating our 50th anniversary on June 10. We are holding an "Open House" this Sunday at our church's family retreat lodge just outside of the city. Our DD's have been fabulous in food planning and preparation and decorations. Having the event on Memorial Day weekend was necessary because it's the only weekend that's not filled with grandkids baseball games and musical productions. LOL

Ya know what else is nice. Corn on the cob, and it was delicious. I told Annie, gotta ping Carl!

I crack my Mom up because hardly a meal goes by that I don't enjoy corn on the cob cooked on the grill - she tells me there are other vegetables and I say huh?
