Are you spying on us again. Sheesh! Stay out of our house - well until you come visit for a few days.

There is nothing strange about her reactions to me. She has been reacting to me for 56 years.

We were driving/camping back & forth between southern CA & IL in the mid- to late 40s, long before divided highways & rest areas. Your road sounds familiar & the strategies needed to deal w/ it. We backed up Pikes Peak ... the only way the little Plymouth could get there. Our air conditioner was wet cloth hung in the windows.
Good grief! I forgit how old I really am!

Yeah, well look at me!

And be sure to tell them how heavy your next RV is going to be.

Geeze... I still have the 'water bag' burlap sack hung out in the garage.
Left over from the family vacation in the SouthWest... from about 1961.
Went out and fetched it up.
'Desert Brand' water bag, made by 'Ames Harris Neville' Co. San Francisco.
Trade marked with a pick, shovel, and gold pan.
Maybe take a photo tomorrow and post it up.
Been hanging out there all these years.
Air conditioning in the car... yup a 'wet rag' hung in the window.
Old man had 'seat covers' in the car. Made of clear plastic.
Got so hot you couldn't sit on it.
Good memories.

We were traveling about the same time, 1961. I did it in a 1950 Studebaker, 6 cyl with overdrive. Had to pull a lever under the dash to go into overdrive. We were living in 29 Palms, CA, at the time and the drive up the long grade was quite a trip. Sand whipped by wind could take the paint off of cars. I could not go up that grade in OD, just the natural 3rd gear.
So all this tech talk about water bags (done that) and wet rags (towels) is just old tech talk. We would by a couple bags of ice and put them in the vent. Back in those days each side had a lever to open the vent for fresh air (no air conditioning). The problem was that the ice lasted about 30 minutes so the next technical step was Dry Ice. Results were about the same.
We ended up using just the car's natural AC - 55 mph with all windows down.
Oh! That Studebaker was great on gas but we had to stop every 200 miles and put oil in. I carried 3, 5 gallon cans of reclaimed oil in the trunk and all of our belongings were on the back seat.
Made the trip from San Diego and 29 Stumps a few time to Texas City. Talk about desert driving in July/August. Uh huh!

Update first prayers to all.
So I've been in pain for awhile now. But in the last 2 months it's got unbearable. So I go to the doctor and find out that c4,5,&6 in my neck and l4,5,&6 in my back are crushed. And your neck should have a curve to it. Mines straight. And your back should be straight mine looks like a letter S. Going back today and Wednesday to find out what can be done. Hope everyone is doing better than me.

I had to have the disc between C5 and C6 removed and replaced. It's not pleasant. But had I left it untreated my right arm would have died. The disc was crumbling and pushing on the nerve for the right arm. That pain was almost unbearable. First dose of steroids and the pain was gone. Inflammation and swelling around nerves is dreadful, but the consequences are worse... so please get with docs on this Dwayne. This is not the kind of thing we can "tough out".
Omms to you and Shara. Keep the updates coming.

So here's the story on the train. The steam engine leaves the station in 5 minutes. We missed the train. Tomorrow they are closed. (Closed Tuesday). Wednesday the diesel engine runs. We wanted to do the steamer so now we're pondering... do we want to do the diesel. They take the same route and I'm sure it's a great ride either way but...
It's 1.5 hour ride and $31 pp so it's not an issue of time or money. More an issue of tradeoffs. I know some of you train loving mutants would go if you had to man the handcart a few miles.
Moving on... the site has morning sun, no shade. Afternoon shade and awning is about to throw shade. This would be great, spring early fall, and the fire ring would be delightful. It was 66 in the coach this morning. Sweet!

Dwayne, as Steve said, this is not something you can "just live with". I have put up with Lumbar pain for many years, but the cervical disks are much more serious. GIANT OHMMMS my friend! Hugs to you and Shara!

Took The Discovery over to shop this morning, having a 12v issue that couldn't be worked out over the phone. Having AC units checked out for the trip across Tx, NM and Nv. Somewhere I read that it might get hot out that way during the summer. And, although my redneck fix to the washer dryer handle works, Mary wants it fixed properly!
Headed outside to enjoy a couple days of low humidity!

So here's a odd thing.. the Train doesn't run on Tuesday and the All Aboard Cafe is closed on Monday... Annie thinks there's a story behind that... I do too, cause it makes no sense.
