Yes the brothel was a museum. Dumas Brothel in Butte opened in the late 1800's and operated continuously until 1982. Two guys bought the building and are restoring it for an eventual B&B. The basement rooms have been left untouched since the brothel closed. Lots of interesting information about the history of the place including the suicide and alleged haunting...

Nope, I spread everything out and other than things they'd just chew up, no goodies.

Someone will... the filter I need was sold out at B&H photo... so I may just watch and not "focus" on taking a pic... but there will be pics of many things. Curious and strange things indeed!

Some of us silver type photographers (as opposed to digital type), will take heavily fogged film, maybe two or three layers to make our own neutral density filters to view through. Exposed X-ray film also works well. Then there is the Camera Obscura that you can make yourself.

I have been told that heaven doesn't need my organs, so let them be harvested here to benefit someone here on earth...

I expect Tim has a different idea???

This article has a good overview of eclipse safety.

https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety

Something new I learned -- we can look directly at the sun during totality, but that only lasts for a bit over 1 minute.

Perhaps one of the Idanha bound RVMs would like to pick up the supplies to make a pinhole viewer? Directions at the link above.
