OK computer Gurus I have a query.

Same computer with two browsers, Opera and Firefox in use.

Steve's link to Rocket 88 worked in Opera

on Firefox it gives this information

https://screenshots.firefox.com/ytT7...ww.youtube.com

Any ideas as to why?

True that!
It was good music for us to dance to 50+ years ago, and again now.

What one browser is capable of on a machine does not equate to all browsers on the same machine being able to do the same. Apparently Opera has a decoder for the video that FF does not. Or one is enabled and the other isn't in FF? Or FF may not be up-to-date? Or FF may be using Flash and Opera isn't? There are clearly numerous reasons, use the one that works!!! Duh!

Both should and from what I can ascertain both browsers have the settings the same way. For a while FF was hit and miss on the video working one time and not the next. So that was the reason for the the switch to opera in the first place.
Thanks.

Fred, I'll PM you my phone number. We're in La Posa South which is just south of mile marker 101 on US 95. You'll need to register at the Welcome Station as you come in. Call me and I'll escort you back to our campsite. Even with GPS it's hard to find your way here. I navigate by Sequoia cactus, but to some people they all look alike.

I always enjoy meeting new Muteys. There may be others here by then, too.

Thanks.
Those are two different products written by two different groups. To say they're the same is like saying a Ford is the same as a Chevy. Yea, they both have 4 wheels and windows, but hardly the same.

Video formats offered by Youtube may vary from video to video, so the format for one video may work in both but the format for another video may not, again, because they are two different programs written by different people. Under the covers, they are NOT the same, no matter what your settings are.

Hey Wayne,

Are you sure the monkey on a class C works? I just saw one here in Santa Fe yesterday, it was dancing a jig on the roof. He, maybe a she was wearing a really funning costume and hat too.

Thanks Barb....

As to the browser issue. There are two factors at play here. First, there are standards how browsers "should" work, but every company is free to implement those standards as they see fit. As a result browsers may behave very differently to the http code from a web site. Second, good web sites will go to length to ensure their web pages are rendered correctly by all browsers, this includes video and other media formats. However, as we all know some won't put in that extra effort for what ever reasons. Being a 35 year IT guy I work on many different computers in the course of a day. Thus I use most of the browsers over a little time and run into this issue frequently. On my own computers I typically have at least different browsers open at any given time. Some sites work better on or the other.

Otherwise- smoke that keyboard...
