I got confused by the image of the person in the photograph. Isn't that Earlene? Did she have a remote triggering device to activate the camera shutter? Is she as fast as the legend of Cool Papa Bell, in taking a selfie? Just pondering!

Made it to the Aritic Circle and beyond

We were up on the Dempster Highway in the Yukon two weeks ago. Went to the Aritic Circle and made it beyond into the Northwest Territories until an Artic Blizzard forced us to retreat back to a more sheltered area spending one night above the Aritic Cirle.. The area was so impressive.

Fred and Denise - it's hard to imagine a blizzard in June! What a journey, we do need to see some more of Alaska's beauty. I know I'll never make that trip.

Be safe and have too much fun!

I'm impressed! Thanks for sharing. Like others, it may not be a trip I'll ever take.

Nosy question: How much was your solar panel helping? Martin thought not much with the sun low in the sky; I thought with so many daylight hours it might help a lot. You can't aim those things, can you?

Again, thanks, & safe landings!

Reply to many,

I’ll post more pics soon. There was a rainbow near the Aritic Circle that day, very cool. Where we turned it around the winds were near 60-70 mph and within a few hours 8” of new snow on the road. They were plowing it the next day.

Our so.ar has provided 100% of our 12 volt needs for five months now. The converters have been off at their breakers. Our batteries are usually 100% charged by 8-9 am every morning. If there’s real morning up here. Thejy are Still producing power at sunset at 1:00 am, even with cloud cover. Batteries have never dropped below 92% entire trip.

So adventurous to do the Artic Circle and do post more pics. We too are planning a exciting adventure, hopefully in the near future. Trying to prepare for the unknown, the dangers of the road, the people we might encounter in their native land can certainly best be done with lots of planning. The language issues, moral differences and education level can be a real roadblock. But setting that all aside, we are looking to visit Texas possible in 2019.
