Final night in Kent so farewell meal with Jo and Craig. This was in the Red Lion pub, a few miles away.

The pub is fairly old - established in 1364, quite a few years before Columbus stumbled across the Americas

We were shown the upstairs 'Crown Post' function room. Just look at that roof support.

We're off by train to St Andrew's, Scotland tomorrow to visit DS and DBIL. This is where golf was invented and, if the weather is fine, we'll take a walk over the hallowed old course.

Heh...the stepdaughter's a ginger. I was a redhead in my younger days, now browner except for the gray part...

Yes, Di, we've thought of you 2 several times this time in Whitstable. Didn't look up the apt./studio, though.

We are currently (noontime) sitting in Kings Cross Station, awaiting a train to St. Andrew's, Scotland. They've just turned on the purple lights. That will make for an interesting sushi lunch, eh?

If history interests you, here is a bit of it from Broadstairs in Kent. We spent a few hours there yesterday, another gloriously sunny day, unusual for October.

There is actually a saltwater swimming pool for those who don't do waves. It's what you might call bare bones.

At the top of the cliff, on the street, a marvelous ice cream shop, a local favorite. The funniest thing, I found an Eton Mess. Just look at that! I couldn't eat more than half.

Sammy Jo looks like the cat w/ the cream, doesn't she? Hers, btw, was a hot waffle w/ syrup & ice cream. Who'dathunk?

And finally, a spoon-petalled osteospermum near the Viking Bay sign. Isn't it gorgeous?

We are now at the campground where Irene and I first met Bonnie and Morgan and Les. Super quiet even though the place is at 3/4 capacity. Living Forest

What they don’t mention is that Billy escaped from that jail, too.

For Wayne & Earlene, & anyone else interested, here's an update on that sushi lunch under the purple ceiling lights:

The container at the top was called a salmon poké potto (ha, ha, potto, get it?), the mochi is green tea flavor, & I'd never seen a hand roll that shape. It all looks quite interesting in purple, doesn't it?
