I went to the VA and got my new hearing aids.

Say what, huh? Could you say that again. Yep, selective hearing still works.

Well, shoot...I've been off here for a couple of days and missed all the MLumpiness (actually, maybe that's for the best...keep yer head down, etc...)

We're settled in for a month or two a little NE of Anderson IN at a KOA. More expensive than we liked but a nicer park. About 45 minutes drive into Indy to see the GK's.

Speaking of driving into Indy...went in Monday June 3 for jury duty. Sat around for a couple of hours until the baliffs came in and selected prospective jurors. Got called on the third round for a criminal case - was #52 of 60 selected. Went into the courtroom and sat as attorneys questioned the first 12, selected 7. Questioned the next 12, selected 6. Questioned the next 6, was going to select 1 when baliff came back in from the jury room with a problem - 2 selected jurors had a problem. One was an 18 y.o. girl who would be graduating HS on Wednesday, the other was a woman who was involved in a job interview (not sure which side of interview) that day (guess she thought trial would start next day). Judge listened and excused both after admonishing them for not saying something up front. Selected 3, told the rest of us to go home. Was about 12:30 by then. Oh well, $15 for being there and free parking, just cost me for the trip both ways.

Last Sunday went to DD & DSIL's place to help replace the people door on their garage. Had been broken into and original 1926 door was coming apart. SIL (who has very little carpentry experience) had removed old door & frame. Minor problem - new door & frame is OK for width but 1-1/2 inches taller than opening. Fine, no real problem - only one roof rafter above opening, we'll rmove one of the double top plates. Go to storage unit to get Sawzall (jigsaw on steroids). Cut out one plate, cut off trim at top of door frame, check for fit. Tight but we got it in. Wall is a bit twisted, hinge side of door lines up nicely, latch side of frame sticks out about an inch at the bottom, guess we'll lice with it. Showed SIL how to shim and adjust door for fit and make additional adjustment if necessary. later. He installed lockset and deadbolt, I went inside and watched cartoon with DGS...

My adventures are nowhere as interesting as Barb's but I do have one now and again...

Dave 66, us South Dakota fulltimers get excused from jury duty. Maybe you belong to the wrong state?

She reads this forum so anything I have to say I can say to her face. (Just as long as I'm 12 feet away. I need the head start.)

Ed,

If I wasn't here supervising Tim while he is w^*king I'd be there in a heartbeat otherwise.

RE: Jurt Duty & IN Address

We looked into the SD mailing address thing but would have to have a mailing service to establish 'residency'. My DD is a great mailing service and only charges for actually deliveries instead of monthly. Besides, doctor, dentist, and all our stored 'stuff' is in Indy, don't really want to move or change them...

Took Hershey dog to the vet Friday for a checkup. Heart & lungs are OK but he has developed a loose tumor under his skin behind one shoulder. Surgery is this Friday. (and here I was getting used to calling him Quasimodo..at least when Carol couldn't hear me...)

Finished writing a Project Manual (spec book) for my former bosses (technically I've retired from there 2 times and trying for a 3rd) & got a nice check last week. Another one coming up the line but most of it was written a year or so ago so just some updating & editing.

And now, a [moderator edit] moment in my life - the next project I have temporarily 'un-retired' for, I find out last month the business's owner was arrested for kiddie porn (son owns the business now so project is still on). Then a couple of weeks ago at our annual hobby show, I find out another hobbyist I have known for years had been recently arrested for kiddie porn. What is wrong with people - 18 is immature enough (although they can legally marry a lot of places)...something wired wrong somewhere...(don't want to start a discussion on it, just trying to make some sense in my own mind, hoping it was teenagers and not little kids...)

Geez Dave, being unretireted is bad enough, but because of someone's sick and illegal behavior is really sad. I hope they both go to prison where they can’t hurt any kids.
