When we are with friends and family we like to be with them and visit and carry on , but when we are not we like to watch news and try to keep up on what's happening around us .... To each their own ....

Today’s gardening adventure

Ok, so the raspberries are growing nicely and it’s time to get the trellis up. I found enough pressure treated 2x4s to make 2 simple frames and I have some leftover wire. I even found a post hole digger in the shed. All I needed was a bag of concrete mix to set the posts firmly in the ground.

Realizing that I’d be bringing home a 50-80# bag of nasty powder I got prepared to back Smarty close to the gate and had the wheelbarrow ready to drag the bag over the tailgate and into the wheelbarrow. Remember we are parked on the side of a 15 degree slope. There is just enough flat space to park Smarty behind the RV. All 8’8” of her just barely fits. The path from Smarty to where the raspberries are planted is sloped left to right.

So everything ready, Sena and I head to Home Depot. I picked up a few things for other projects leaving the heavy, nasty stuff for last.

There is nothing short about trip to any store with Sena in tow, but she is especially fond of trips to Home Depot. When we lived in Oklahoma all the HD employees knew Sena and about half would keep a single Tic Tac in their orange apron pocket for her to find and enjoy. She still searches but rarely finds any treats.

So we’re in the cement aisle and I’m trying to find what I need when I spot this stuff. But it was only $12.70 in HD. WOW! A small clean bag instead of 50# of nasty, such a deal.

https://www.amazon.com/Sika-61109087...s%2C239&sr=8-2

We get home and I carefully read the directions, put on gloves and have everything ready to go. I even attached a level to the post with long twist ties.

So I mix the 2 liquids together in the bag and snip the corner off with scissors and pour the green goo into the hole as instructed. All of the sudden the goo becomes a growing mass of green foam, overflowing the hole headed for everything nearby. I quickly remove the level from the post for fear that it might become permanently attached. And the green goo keeps growing. I kicked the water hose away and at the same time trying to hold the post steady. The instructions said it only takes 3 minutes to set. I knew I could hold it that long without any other support.

It finally quit growing and by golly! It was set. But it wasn’t quite what I expected. You can see for yourself what the end result was. At least it stopped before it got to the first raspberry plant. Oh, and I got some on my right sneaker, too.

Dang! I just noticed that I forgot to reconnect the hoses. They’re on a sunrise timer. I better get out there and fix that before I wake up to a flood.

Sad that they have learned nothing from Tim. The bears, that is

My apologies for the oversight, I thought Carl was the one that though bears could learn from me. That's what happens when your speed reading. You should have seen some of the results when I was speed reading my chemistry lab books.

Barb certainly an interesting product, might have to take a look on my next trip to HD. Let us know if it gives you the final results you desired. Wouldn't that be a kicker if cement trucks were replaced by Smartys!

Now, if Mary jumps on the wagon you will be skinny in a few days!

I'm thinking that possible we should ban that four letter word! It's so offensive to so many of us. D. I. E. T.

Looking like that is going to be a nesessity in my coming life. Recent diagnosis had three main contributing factors.
1) Obesity
2) 65 yrs or older
3) high blood pressure

My BP has been controlled for years thanks to modern medicine, the age issue is what it is, can't change that. So that leaves the obesity issue.

Go back to your chemistry books and find a way to give it some more structural strength and you'd have a multi billion dollar product. This can be cut with a sharp knife, or so the package says. I'll report back when and if I get it trimmed.

Airbag recalls covered a LOT of vehicles. Had to have both replaced on the Mustang (2 separate recalls) so had them done at oil change times. Apparently the problem was that the housing wasn't strong enough and could come apart, sending pieces out with the airbag.

As for Carl's new pet - is there any agency to call and inform them of that particular bear's location (for migration tracking updates, not for removal)? Now - who can do Photoshop and put a hat and tie on the bear (and add a pic-a-nic basket)?

I imagine one could call the state DEP (dept env. protection), they're the ones that deal w/that. But I'm one to not bother them other than to shoo him away from my garbage cans!!!

I've seen some folks really run into trouble on the local news, but some people are also really stupid so not sure what to make of things when they're reporting against their agenda...

Hmm! Me thinks Sena read the instructions. I think the key words on the front of the bag (make sure you read the left side info) stating it is equal to two 50 pound bags of cement sort of gives it away.
