Hi folks. This is for the petrol heads amongst us and those who feel nostalgia for the fifties and before. This weekend Is the Goodwood Revival - an amazing event held at the Goodwood racetrack every year at this time. Sue and I went there in 2012. The track is essentially the perimeter road of an old WWII airfield, upgraded for racing in the 50s. The Revival is an extravaganza of historic racing cars going hell for leather round the track and an all day party of folk in wartime and 50s attire. Also, all day long is a flying display of WWII aircraft like Spitfires and Hurricanes, taking off from and landing on the infield on the original runways. We found the experience quite surreal. There's a small scale version of the Art Deco Earl's Court motor show building complete with a good collection of 50s cars on show just like in the day. Also a 50s Tesco supermarket complete with a period display of groceries. Scattered around the grounds are various 40s and 50s cars and trucks and you will occasionally come across a matching set of TWA flight attendants or a group of cleaning ladies. As I said - quite surreal.
There's a whole bunch of YT videos you can find on the event, including this weekend a live feed.
This video I found captures the atmosphere well.

https://youtu.be/O1l8w55jElU

The only thing missing is any reference to the flying display. Enjoy

R U an RV Mutant too?

Martin, that was one of the most wonderful videos I’ve ever seen of that era.
I think it’s a marvelous event!
Thank you

Followed just enough sports car racing back in my slot racing days to recognize a number of those cars (can't put the right names to some of them though...). Well, that and my owning an MG back then.
In other car related news, we went to the Gilmore Auto Museum today. Wow has that place changed since the last time I was there (many years ago).

This should be fun!
Tim,

Do what I do when I’m backing a trailer. Look only in a mirror and do what you normally do and it comes out correct. So just mount a mirror where you can see the controls in it and you won’t have to think about what to do before you do it.

I knew better than to follow Wayne's advice but then Carl chimed in so I thought I might give it a try. Thinking I might have to go day 2 on this project I thought I'd practice with the bathroom mirror. So after cleaning up I thought I'd do everything using a mirror. Funny how Preperation H looks a lot like Pepsodent. So much for Mutant advice.

Have you read all the jumping "whatevers" featured in these mutant pages?

Great tips! Thanks. Look forward to hearing any other’s you think of.

I have a first cousin in Ketchikan and will try to work in a few hours to see him. (He’s a professional fisherman. His boat is pretty big. He has a good size crew. I’d LOVE to go out to sea with him, but know there won’t be time.)

We’re going to see if a couple of our friends will go, too. Kate’s MS has been advancing some over the past 6 months and she needs to get off her feet and rest in the afternoons. I’m going to get a balcony cabin so she can still enjoy scenery when she goes to the cabin.

Splitting wood on a steep hillside is certainly a challenge. I notice Kate is having to set on that log to keep it from rolling off. Best of luck to you ladies.

Thanks, Tim. You know I never could figure out how to turn my pictures right side uo on this forum!
The log is keeping her from rolling down the hill! Lol. Actually, her ms symptoms have worsened and she is unable to walk very far without sitting and resting. But you’ll never ever hear her complain.

You need to use more Preparation H. What you used didn't seem to close your mouth.

Dennis - lipstick was funny.

Hi Mel and Kate. I laid down on the floor to view the pictures. Won't do that again. Almost couldn't get up.

Earlene's pictures are always sideways and I have to open them and save them.

What phone are you using?
