I have bifocal lens implants. Fifteen years ago I had a choice between distance vision plus reading distance or distance plus computer. I asked why not one of each? I was my eye surgeon's first mixed lens patient. Iím sure theyíve made improvements since then.

For me it was an extra $2400 per lens but it was worth every penny. I donít need glasses at all unless itís to read micro print.

Compared to the cost of eyeglasses over the remainder of my life it was a bargain. I was only 53 when mine were done. Sena just LOVES to destroy eyeglasses.

Another option is monovision ó where your dominant eye is set for distance, your other eye for reading. I wore monovision contacts for years before bifocal contacts were made. Your brain learns to use the correct eye for what you need. This is not always successful with senior citizens, but it doesnít have the price tag of the bifocal lens implants.

X-ray vision? I hear it was outlawed due to privacy issues. Imagine what the creepy peepers could see.

Tim, I was told this morning when the surgery was complete to let DW drive for the next two or three days. I have a vision checkup on the 25th and my doctor doesn't think there will be any complications and we should be able to set out somewhere around the the 28th or 29th to head south.

Nope, didn't opt for any vision correction in the implant. I've worn glasses a long time, I'm happy to keep using them and do all the vision correction externally. In 20 years, when the implants need to be replaced, maybe I'll reconsider and get vision correction implants.

Carol had corrective implants several years ago. When I saw her after the surgery, the first thing she said to me was, "where did all those wrinkles on your face come from...". Her vision was corrected to the point where she no longer needed glasses, but it was still just under the line of being 'visually impaired'.
I have the beginnings of cataracts but right now all it does is produce 'lens flares' around headlights or other bright lights at night.

Ok Mother Hen, itís time to let the rooster crow by himself for a bit. I'm sure he will be just fine because he knows what youíll do to him if he isnít.

Give those kiddos extra hugs from all of us, too. Enjoy!
