I was surprised by the low numbers of people in every place except the Post Office. Sam’s was pretty much in stock of everything except TP, paper towels, size large nitrile gloves and hand sanitizer. Really people???isn't it time to stop hoarding????

More surprising was the lack of traffic on the way home. It usually takes about 10 minutes to get through the border patrol inspection station, but today I drove right up and went right through. The 55 miles that I drove on the highway I only passed one car, two passed me. Typically , both numbers would be in the 40-50 vehicle range.

Arizona governor Ducey issued a stay at home order effective at 5 pm tomorrow. Everywhere I went today it’s on the list of essential businesses so my life is not likely to change an awful lot because of this.

I bought some berry bushes today at Sam’s. I guess that means I’m going to stay here with this summer because they will need daily water during the hottest part of the summer. I was hoping this insanity would be over by July but now it’s looking to be a long, long, long time before we get back to some sense of normalcy.

I know a lot of people are really spooked by this virus. About a third of the people I ran into in the store had masks or gloves are both on. From what I’m reading, they’re probably not helping themselves but if it makes them feel better, that’s OK. I always take a shopping cart from out in the sun shine. I know no virus can live very long in the sun on a hard surface like a shopping cart handle.

Y’all stay safe, but don’t let this spook you. We'll get through this!

Yes we will, Barb!
I’ve noticed a loss in RVM spirit and vitality. I don’t get poked much!
Seems that the RVM team spirit is going away!

Ok, you made me do it:

I've grown ordinary okra -- it isn't shy about being spiny. Therefore the spineless variety is all that's grown in my garden these days.

Well, I thought it was funny. Sheesh, what a body has to go through to get a laugh.

I don't do standup, either.
That's probably a good thing - for us.

Our county, Galveston, has 92 coronavirus cases.
Today they gave a breakdown by city.
Texas City has 12
The largest city, League City, has 41.
League City is where all the better shopping is but we have good shopping (grocery) here also.

My DW is always reminding me about my weight. Then she cooks a full 3-4 course meal twice if not three times a day! I'm getting mixed signals!

She's testing your will power!

Be careful or I'll loose my title.

Dave,

How is it that every time I suggest a place for the two of us and our wonderful DW's to mutate to something comes up to stop us. I mentioned the East Broad Top was a good place for us top hang out in Orbisonia PA and you impact a nationwide stay home policy. I'm starting to think you don't like me.

Incase you haven’t heard the latest on the virus news. Seems they have isolated a target victim . After closing all the hair salons it is estimated that in 8 weeks 88% of all blonds will disappear !

That's enough excitement for one day.

But wait! There's more!

Today is the 25th anniversary of M.'s retirement! His treat? Dinner at McDonald's (drive through!)

Yes, the annual visit to McDonalds to celebrate my retirement. The origin of this is when on the actual retirement date in 1995, Sue picked me up at the train station and we decided to go get a meal to celebrate. Our town is very sleepy at that time of day and the only place we found open was the brand new McDonalds. It even has a drive thru, so small that maybe only a Smart Car would fit. Also, local laws forbad the Golden Arches sign being anything taller than 3ft. Anyway, that was the start of the tradition.

After 25 years with London Underground, I was given a long service award. I chose a nice canteen of cutlery which is only used on special occasions. I wonder if the LU pension fund will give me a similar award!

Thanks guys. We are booked in here through April 14 but I'm wondering if it would be wise to cut loose now and head home. Any suggestions?
