Hey Bill!!!
It was 1966.
The amps were all Marantz. We got them for $30/night. We were paid anywhere from 0 to $40 per gig!
Yup, we were stinkin rich and the paparazzi waited for us to leave the gig by sitting on the fenders of my ‘55 Ford Custom (that meant it had a heater and a radio). THAT’S why my face was so very stoic, being too famous to show emotions.
I can still sign autographs

Yup Dave, I've heard it is lonely at the top!
Those amps are very cool and I would say a rare find today. I would say probably as rare as the old Magnatones. Buddy Holly played through one, his Strat sounded good with it.
I've love vintage amps. I've had a few different ones......went through a buy/sell/trade phase for a while that was constant. I did hold on to one of my 1964 Twin Reverbs, and a 1970 Bandmaster (Fender). The only real vintage guitar I have is a (now vintage) 1978 American Standard Telecaster. I speak of a former life....
Anyway, what's the axe you're playing there?
Oh, and I'll get your autograph someday! Got any recordings, 45s? Do tell!
PS- I have read through some old posts, but haven't read it all yet You'll have to repeat possibly some previously told stories......but that's OK, I likely do that a lot.

Okay musicians. My son has a Fender Twin Reverb George Benson signature model amp and I bought him a 5 button BK Butler Tube Driver. He's thinking of getting a Fractal FM3 Amp Modeler/FX processor......so come on down and bring your guitars.
He doesn't like guitars. He only has these:
2019 Fender American Elite Stratocaster;
1996 Godin Multiac Nylon String Synth Guitar;
1987 Gibson “WRC” super-Strat;
2004 Taylor 30th Anniversary 514ce steel string acoustic.
He loves to play and I think he is pretty good but he said he can't play any of them.

Actually Dave, I can't even find a picture of a Marantz instrument amplifier....rarer than I thought! All I can find is their obvious famous home stereo amps and such.

Well, our time in sunny Florida has come to an end and in the a.m. (or thereabout) the birds and I are off to Gatlinburg Tennessee where we'll be staying for a week. The purpose is to ride the Tail of the Dragon on my motorcycle! For those not in the know - the Tail of the Dragon is an 11 mile stretch of road with, get ready for this, three hundred and thirteen turns! What fun! I'm sure I'll be laughing at least as much as I did in the hill country of TX at the last GC I was at...what a blast some of those roads were!

Family Guitars:
Mom had a 1957 Strat, sunburst with a blond neck. Brother sold it around 2010.
1965 Fender Jazz Bass, I had it for a while, now daughter has it.
1960-something Fender Bassman amp, daughter has that too. Maybe one of the GK's will take it up. I never practiced enough to get any good.
Arthur's Music in Indy has uncle Pat's old Martin last I heard...

Been there done that Carl, back in 2005 or 2006. Glad I did it. I was only on the bike so I only went one way, from ToD to Maryville, then home. You will not regret doing it. Good luck and keep the shiny side up.
