Well old mutant readers may recall years ago my plight with my son's guitar and the need for a new G-string. But yes, I did find that gutaurs do have G-strings and now his has a new one. Funny how on one of his visits back home he decided to take his guitar home with him.
Well I decided that I could live with the loss cause after Mary and I finally made the stage at the Grand Ole Oprea what else was there to do? For those that don't remember that faithful day we graced the stage I layed out our journey to that point. How to make the Grand Ole Oprea, practice, practice and a tour ticket. Oh, and ignor the signs that say stay behind this line.

Admit it Tim, the only reason you didn't stay behind the line was the sign wasn't written and spelt in Arkansonian.

Okay okay.
Truth!
I don’t remember the names on the amps, my guitar was a no-name that I bought for $50.
We were high school buddies that had a tight sound and we loved to make people happy!
The $ per gig was real, and we all had part time jobs, so gigs were tough to schedule.
We only did about a dozen gigs before high school ended. All of the guys but me were music majors in college and ended up selling insurance. Arthritis ended it all for me at 17, but no regrets!
And I was the only guy with a steady date.
There are some things we all do that show our love for certain activities, and we will always cherish.
Dave.
Mutant for Life
I am jealous of all the neat equipment youse had!
I’m pleased we all had common experiences!
And I’m dying from your grand lies!

Tim! Lie! No way!
I bought Mike a bass guitar for $30 when he was 15. He'd come home from school, go into his room, turn the radio on and play. About 6 months later he was making $$ in a Country Western band in Japan.
Back to the states he attended the junior college here and was in the Jazz Ensemble. He was the first to be featured on the upright bass. He had a 6 string fretless back then. He eventually transitioned to guitar. He worked for me for a time and I sent him to Louisiana, near NOLA, for 3 months "turn-around." (Petrochemical testing) and when he returned he was playing some "mean" blues. As Di said, he is quite good.
Now, what you musicians don't know is that I picked up a guitar and could plunk 30 years ago. By plunking I could play melody. I read music. I never could get the chords though. I read music. Yep! Make a major chord a minor chord by just raising the 3rd 1/2 step for you music minded ones. And...I had my own band when I was in high school also. Made some good money playing the accordion. Unfortunately I got stationed in the desert and unbeknownst to me the heat weakened the wax holding the reeds in place and the sound got real bad. Never had the money to get it fixed so stopped playing. That was 60 years ago, wow! I still have my original accordion, 120 bass, mother of pearl, with my name on the front sitting in a closet.

On closer inspection of Dave’s pic I noticed one thing that hasn’t changed over all these years. He likes to stand on tables!

Actually, the tail of the dragon has 318 turns in 11 miles. I’ve ridden it several times. It is a fun ride, but I find highway 276 between Waynesvill, NC and the SC state line more enjoyable. Enjoy the ride and be safe. Dan

Dave
EBT and Strasburg are officially out of this years plans. Because of the current travel restrictions we can't get there from here. Weird that the statement which in past years was meant to be funny is now prophetic.
Oh well the journey is the destination so we plod along.

I have no idea who it is that has such deep pockets but I hope they get their plan to first reinstate the tourist era right of way and then start to expand the service beyond the tourist era. I would expect an expansion to Mt Union to get tourist closeness from #22 William Penn Highway and then working south to Three Spring, Wrays Hill and then Robertsdale. I have dreamed of that possibility ever since I was a teen.
