Chrysler LHS was a lemon, Chrysler actually replaced it due to countinuous breakdown time. The new car only cost be $50 and was a year model newer.

As a Mutant, very early in my life, I recall my first car. Can you guess what it is with a couple clues?

Clue 1: It was NOT a "Mainstream" brand. ie: Not GM, Ford, or Chrysler.

Clue 2: I bought it with my FIRST Paycheck, so cheap, it was hidden away in the back, back lot on the dealers stock.

Clue 3: Pending --- it would be a giveaway, so I will let my fellow Mutants think about it and take a guess... Later today, I will give the final clue.

Ahhh, such memories... Thanks for the trip to the past!

WOW, what a fine guess, by naming every brand known to man, the "Shotgun" approach did find the answer.

Although family did have a Studebaker, and a few years later, the little known American Motors "Metropolitan".. Great cars, but mine was more unusual...

One of the most fun cars was my "Gremlin"...

Clue: #3: I intend to attend a museum, in Shipshewana, dedicated to this fine automobile. Mine featured a "Straight 8" monster engine!!!...

Did that narrow it down enough??? Come on Deuce Name it.

Maybe I can talk Tim into awarding you a home made keepsake award...

Naw! Everyone should know it is a Hudson.
First I was going to say Packard but that was to obvious.

Richard, you missed your chance. the Hudson Museum auctioned everything off and closed sometime in 2018.

Great guess, BUT...

The Prize goes to Wayne... He has been to Shipshewana and knows there is a Hudson Museum there...

CONGRATULATIONS Wayne!..

Tim will think of a suitable reward!

This was FUN, thanks for the feedback...

Yep! Brings back the day when I could see a car rolling down the highway and immediately identify it. Not anymore.

My first car was a 1951 Ford. Second car was a 1955 Oldsmobile coup. Both were great cars. Unfortunately I joined the military and couldn't keep the '55. When Earlene and I got married (can you imagine I have put up with her for 59 years) we bought a 1950 Sudebaker for $50. Got it home and checked the oil and it didn't have any on the dip stick. We drove that care 4 times back and forth from San Diego to Texas City. I would carry 3 five gallon cans of reclaimed oil in the trunk and all our possessions in the back seat. Every 200 miles I'd stop and check the gas and put in a few quarts of oil. It was a 6 Cyl, Std Shift with overdrive. Remember the overdrive when you had to pull a cable from the dash to engage the overdrive.

Nice little car but you couldn't tell if it was coming or going.
