Reminds me of my buddy Amos
Amos Moses
He lived by himself in the swamp
Hunted alligator for a living
He’d just knockem in the head with a stump!.

Now the folks around south Louisiana
Said Amos was a hell of a man
He could trap the biggest, the meanest alligator
And he'd just use one hand
That's all he got left 'cause an alligator bit it
Left arm gone clear up to the elbow

I’ve had some grand and AMAZING trivia on this thread, but the last dozen or so entries have nearly topped it.

I lived in South Georgia long ago.
Early 1970s.
The folks in our trailer park were often amused by the 9+ length gators. They somehow liked to lay along the long row of mail boxes. Ours was #22C.
Called the gator baiter/dragger/gater/shooters.

Another story now, please?

No pics but confirmed report of an actual Waynasaurus seen migrating to the south central US. Caution to those that might come in contact.

Timster

I think you spelt Painasaurus wrong?

Also depending on pronunciation it could also lead to a whole whack of misspellings?

Hey Wayne; Hi Buddy!!!

Okay, my story and it confirms Di's long foot 'gator.

While temporarily at Kennedy Space Center, working believe it or not, it was lunch time. One of the KSC employees said, "Come on I want to show you something." We stepped outside and walked about 30 or 40 yards to a ditch. As we approached the thrashing started and as we could see into the ditch there were so may 'gators you could not count them.

Also, play golf the signs said, "Free drop from alligator, do not go near them." On one of the holes we played our drive was close to a BIG alligator and when I say big it was 0ver 12 feet long. None of us were going to go close enough to measure. He was guarding a multitude of golf balls.

So, your coworker tried to get you in a ditch full of gators!
Seems you was the same back then as you are today
