Ha! I will race you to the bacon and the beer. To the victor go the spoils. My little 325 is no racer but it has been known to go 75 on the flats of I-40. Just for bit though. Backed off to conserve fuel. But that was not from 0 - 75 in a time trial. Just keepin up with traffic flow.

That darn thing of mine keeps getting away from me. When I first got it I drove it home from Arizona. I kept looking down, I'd be doing 85. It got so I just always use the speed control now because it never feels like its going that fast!

My electronic GPS speedometer has a few features like ... 1/4 mile 0 to whatever reading, and 0 to 60 timer. Features seldom needed, I might add. If I look outside and see the neighborhood car chasing dog gaining distance on me, then I figure it will not be a good timed run to brag about.

Thanks for the reply, and for the info, Red Rock is on the must do list as is Jerome and Cottonwood, and of course the crater and Montezuma's places, all things I missed on our first trip 19 years ago, had kids with me then and well I didnt get to do what I wanted to do.

Well my fellow mutants - we picked up the Bounder today. Wouldn't ya know it. The freeway was closed for about half the ride to storage - which meant stop - move six inches - stop - repeat - ad nauseam for an hour. Will never understand why they leave exits open miles before the detour. Folks jump off early and then slow everyone down by getting back on the freeway in the middle of the mess or when the detour comes back on the highway. Others were cutting though the grass over to the access road. Hurry, hurry. Rush, rush.

Anyway - was not much of a test of the turbo. I can say the engine seemed smoother and quieter. Stopped at Flying J and pumped 63.769 gallons at $3.659 so ready to roll in a couple of weeks.

So here's my latest mutation ponder and conundrum. I'm not sure how hot it was today - but the heat has returned. Has me rethinking the Texas Hill Country next month. Thinking of New Mexico again. Or possibly the mutant wander. The thing is, with 16 days total - and really needing a vacation - I want the maximum chill time. I don't really care if I see much beyond a picnic table as long as it's cool and I can sit in my Strongback Chair - have a fire - cook some bacon - have a beer or two and repeat. Any ideas appreciated.

So here is a ponder for mutants who still have day jobs (or retired and remember).... Long ago when we first started traveling (the old Airstream B Van) - i was sitting at the campfire - and all of a sudden I felt the stress leave me. This was day three of not moving - Colter Bay. I found that to be the case time and again. About 3 days of camping and the spring unwinds.

Any other mutants have a 3 day unwind? Some other "let down reflex time" - or notice this? I also notice it when not traveling - a 3 day weekend seems at least twice as good as 2 days!

26 years with same company just last week - will retire fairly well with 27 this time next year or there abouts. I will not look back that's for sure - but the exchange of flesh for money has been mostly fair. My last year or so will be like all the rest. No skates allowed. But I hear ya.

Our list is in process. Unlike you, we are going to give fulltiming a whirl and look around for a place to retire - or maybe just keep going. Hopefully the list will be complete the day before I retire and we will head out on the mutant path. Can't stay in the heat of Dallas any more. And Phoenix is a place we will visit in the cool month. :

RVM31 Checking in!

Well finally got back from Orlando Disney trip with grand kids. Whew a week of chasing a 13 and 10 y/o around five parks gave us a new appreciation for our "senior" status. Of course we arrived to find the same three digit heat we left. Steve I'm with you....I'm ready to leave this Texas heat behind. Being full time RVer who is semi-retired I can't leave until I get my company sold so until then I work three days a week and my partner and I rotate taking a week or two every month off so we can explore where to begin the next chapter in our lives.

Steve we really enjoy Hot Springs AR. at a new and very nice RV park called Catherine's Landing right on Lake Catherine. Ck. out their website they have lots of pics and even they don't do it justice.

One thing I am learning......if snow birds head south for the winter, we must be sunbirds who want some place cooler for the summer! When we reach full time retirement don't know yet where our new base will be. Guess that is part of the mutant process. We will roam around the country and light in one place when it feels right.

Herb, when was you in Hot Springs, AR. (My neck of this Universe)? Always love to hear compliments on our area of the world, but let me warn you, we too can have that Texas size heat and even worse the humidity. One must choose their time to visit, or sweat to regret it.
