^^^^ Sue No... That is not common... I am sorry to hear that, and most especially if the slide had already been worked. That is no way to finish such a fine mutantion.

When I finally got the "new to us" coach registered yesterday, I thought I would only have to pay one tax because I bought it in Canada. I'm told that's not the case according to our tax laws and the government mutated my wallet out of an additional $2500 on top of the $3500 I thought I would have to pay. Apparently it's okay to tax on top of tax already paid.

I'm bummed!

We are slightly more than Put Out. (That could have been in all caps.) There isn't much hair left on either if our pates to pull out, and there is a distinct scent of Lemon in the air.

Is this common? After replacement & upgrade of slide parts already?

Nice to be home. Just another small wrinkle in the road.

Cheers!

Well, that stinks. Sorry, Sue.

Wow! That's not fun. When ya brought the other one into Canada was it a single tax? Was this different or same as import?

Thanks, SarahW. I needed a friendly place to vent.

(BTW, on a personal note, I'm the other half that goes with MartinC. <extending hand to shake> Glad to meet you. I know your name from some conversations about seating and A-V issues he's told me about.)

Cheers!
Sue

Ouch Susppinz! What a bummer! I hope it is fixable without a lot of stress inducing non-mutational swearwords!

I would be too. But politicians will tax anything they can we all know that. If it makes you feel any better, I paid income tax on money earned I placed in a retirement account, and now I'm paying income tax on it again as I draw it out. Where you hit with a sales tax again or some type of duty tax?

My last coaches I bought in the states. I knew I would have to pay the 5% GST bringing in into Canada. Supposedly, I was told, this was the only time GST would be collected on a used vehicle being brought across into Canada. As well at that time, I had to pay an additional 7% Provincial tax.

So being the vehicle I just bought already had the GST paid on it when it was originally brought into Canada, I thought I would only be subject to the 7% Provincial tax. I did buy it in a different Province so maybe that's how they got me. Not sure. Canada's tax laws just changed not long ago and since I bought my last coach. It still sucks. I'm going to have to read up on it as I'm still in disbelief.

Annie and I would never so such a thing.
It was a quiet week in Lake Woebegone, but then again it always is.

But the women are strong, the men are good looking and the children above average.

Not to beat a dead equine, but to add insult: this evening I opened the pantry door, not carefully enough. Since the designers didn't see fit to fit lips on the shelves, you have an idea what's coming.

Specifically, half a pound of honey in a plastic jar fell on my foot, closely followed by a pound of molasses in a glass jar. Since I was already doing the ouchie-dance, said molasses jar shattered on the pretty shiny tile floor. Not so pretty. Pretty sparkles on nearby rugs, though.

I'm goin' ta bed!!! (Careful I don't fall out. This isn't Friday the 13th anymore, is it???)

Cheers!

So I did some research. This is how they got me! (See link)

Used car tax will not drop to pre-HST levels - British Columbia - CBC News

In the old tax system, I would only have had to pay 7%. Then, our Government snuck in a new harmonized tax of 12% which was inclusive of 5%GST and 7%PST. The tax payers revolted and they promised to turn the tax back to Pre HST levels. They did (it took 2-1/2 years), except for used vehicles. Those (expletive).

Welcome to the new RVM 48!
Sue, did you have Too Much Fun at the rally? When you land and open doors, you are supposed to be ready to catch flying cans and jars. But the slide issue is Not Good. Best of luck getting it fixed.
Les, I feel your pain. It seems all governments take aim at RVs for extra taxation. It is like we have targets on our wallets, just like cigarette smokers. Dang inconsiderate.
Dave, hopefully the Colorado Experience will improve.
We hear that our S&B is OK, just wet, having just over 8" of rain in less than 2 days, we have a sump pump in the basement. Guess next month we will find out for sure. We still never found anyplace we'd rather live, so we will remain Coloradoans. Most of the time the weather is exceptional, and getting over 300 days of sunshine each year is a plus.
