Welcome, Dennis RVM59. oh boy, I hope you know what you got yourself into, hahahaha.

Les, GREAT news about MOM! And happy birthday! Mom sure gave you a nice present, didn't she?

Ok, I've got to tell y'all about the neatest thing I saw outside my back window just now. For the newbies I'll mention that I am parked for the winter at a friend's place in southern WA state. Ok, not a typical full-timer's winter digs, but I am here to catch up on some medical care and this is where I have the best support for me and the fur kids.

I am 200 feet from a wide spot in the mighty Columbia River. One of the things I enjoy is watching HUGE ships sail by loaded with all sorts of cargo. I've found I can find info on the ships in real time by going to Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions - AIS Marine Traffic By clicking on the tiny ship icon, information about the ship pops up.

So, I'm reading this thread and I look up and see an oddly outfitted ship headed upriver (East) and look it up on ESSAYONS - Trailing suction hopper dredge: current position and details | IMO 7923495, MMSI 366972000, Callsign AENO | Registered in USA - AIS Marine Traffic Ok, it's dredging the river, and at about that moment it stops dead still and then the sucker starts to rotate!! It does a complete 180 in the middle of the river!! And then starts heading downstream.

Can you imagine how much easier our RVs would be if they could turn like THAT? There wouldn't be anyplace we couldn't go! It might be a little hard on towbars and toads, but a totally useful tool for parking even the biggest rig.
Hey Barb !!!!

That was really great info, the next time Im near a shipping lane That would be a great website to have.

Did you know way back in the early days of the automobile, there was either a Lincoln or a Caddy that they called the 5-wheeler or something like that. and when it came to parking into tight spots, you would nose the front into the space, lower the 5th wheel which lifted the other 2 rear wheels and then it would swivel into a tight parking spot. I cant imagine trying that with a coach, but who knows.

Cheers !!!

I had a pickup that actually did 180's several times. Of course it was always on ice, kind of scary!

X2 Tim !!

Mine was a 1977 Chevy Blazer 2WD, the back end was always slippin out of line on the ice. The only time it was a real problem was when I was on the highway and there were other motorists around ... ...

Cheers !!!

Think I saw that somewhere. It's a set of axles and wheels that mount near the rear axle but at right angle. It lowers and moves the rear end around.
