On the trip out and back we spent the night in Boron and went to Domingo's. The place is famous for being the first stop for shuttle crews when they land at Edwards AFB. Pretty good Mexican food.

The low point was that when we returned from dinner there were fire trucks and an ambulance in front of our space. After the initial panic over our Golden Retrievers and the always present danger of fire in a coach we saw that the EMT's were in the fifth wheel next door. They were working on Gil, who we never met. He did not make it despite over an hour of everything they could do. Gil's poodle was in a panic and in danger of getting run over so I coaxed (carried) him into our rig and tried to calm him down. I made sure the EMT's knew where the dog was and waited for Gil's wife Marilyn to come get him. When they removed the body they brought her over and we talked for about 20 minutes and made sure she was going to be able to get home. She was doing about as well as could be expected of someone faced with the unexpected death of a spouse. What a horrible thing for her. Her daughter and son-in-law must have come in the middle of the night because when we got up at 6:30 the space was empty.

There's a lesson to be learned. Ladies? Can you drive the rig? Could you make it home alone? Do you know how to do everything required to get on the road? Do you know the new CPR?

My DW is working on it. She is still afraid to drive but has no trouble at all telling me how. That's going to change.

What an awful, awful experience. It is for you just as much as Gil's wife in a way. Let me explain; we stayed at Kettle RV, Eureka Springs, AR park in July 4, 2011, and our neighbor in a 5er died inside. He also had a small elderly terrier dog. Otherwise alone. We knew something was wrong right away because the dog was not being taken out. We also could see her staring out through a window night and day. It TOOK 3 DAYS for management to do something. Of which they broke in and took the body away. He was a fulltimer there, and neighbors knew him. One ended up taking the dog until next of kin could be notified.
I was so disgusted with the handling of that poor man's demise, and the suffering of that poor old dog, I wrote an online review of the whole thing. I will never stay at that park again.

Which us exactly why i am not getting two or even one. Like the way they sit, like the way they look, but I am a super klutz, not DH.... I would be the one tripping....lol....

I keep a small LED flashlight near my side of the bed. Not because of an ottoman left out of place but because our original Muddypaws likes to sleep in the path to the bathroom. She does the same thing in our S&B house. I'd rather not step on her.

No matter where you are it's a good idea to keep a flashlight near the bed.

If an RV park's management responded in only 3 days I would call them pretty good. It's not uncommon for someone to lay where they fell for a lot longer than that.

We were going to try to make it to Tehachapi but decided stay in Boron. If we hadn't been there Buddy, the poodle, probably would have gotten lost, or worse. So the way I see it we were there for a reason. It wasn't fun but we did what we could to help.

Tim we have a new neighbor with a serious case of ropus lightus such as I have never seen before. Tucked up under his canopy is the ropus about 20 ft long and it changes colors constantly and being LED is very bright! When he turns on his stereo radio they change colors to the beat of the music. Sick Sick Sick! Makes me nauseous. No smoothies for me when he has that thing on!

Hmmm, it seems that I now have another reason to enjoy my small abode. I have no fears of tripping over anything on my way to the bathroom at night because the door is right next to my bed. Also, the amber LED on the top of my frig shines on the ceiling making an excellent night light.

Did the Skunk Kleen work and how well?

If needed, use the Tomato Juice as follows:

• Celery salt
• 1 Lemon wedge
• 1 Lime wedge
• 2 oz Vodka
  
• 4 oz Tomato Juice
• 2 dashes Tabasco Sauce
• 2 tsp Prepared horseradish
• 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
• 1 pinch Celery salt
• 1 pinch Ground black pepper
• 1 pinch Smoked paprika

Pour some celery salt onto a small plate. Rub the juicy side of the lemon or lime wedge along the lip of a pint glass. Roll the outer edge of the glass in celery salt until fully coated. Fill with ice and set aside. Squeeze the lemon and lime wedges into a shaker and drop them in. Add the remaining ingredients and fill with ice. Shake gently and strain into the prepared glass. Garnish with a celery stalk and a lime wedge.
