Wow! When I was a kid we played with them. But never saw one quite like that one.

Uh-oh! Started something with that bell ... I may be in trouble with the Grand Potentate!
That is one ginormous insect! I think you might find, though, that it is a praying mantis. And not too many folks will be walking around with one! Where's Hitchcock when you need a good fright movie!?!
Cheers!

Back in the 70s I made sour dough bread and mistook teaspoon for table spoon. I don't think the bird even liked it. I mean that I like salt. I even salt salt, but this was a bit too salty.

ROFL!!! Been there, done that ... recently, even. Found out that if you warm the bread up, as in toasting it, it tastes even saltier. Chill it and it's almost bearable, because, apparently, ... are you ready for this? ... it cools your taste buds to where they lose sensitivity.
BTW, did you make your own starter with wild yeast, too? One of those 70s things, I reckon.
Cheers!
Sue

That makes sense and I just used flour, yeast and baking soda. That's a long time to remember back to. Makes my brain hurt.

When making bread with yeast, it has to have something to feed the yeast to make it rise, give off gasses. Sugar, honey etc.
You should always wait on adding salt until after the yeast has started proofing.... Bubbling, salt will stop it. I seldom use baking soda along with yeast.... They both do the same thing.... The soda jump starts it, but i dont like the taste together..... Just have to be patient with yeast. And now the quick yeast works faster.....
I try all kinds of breads, to me it is another challenge....... After i visit somewhere, you can bet i will begin cooking foods from that region......

I should have noted the photographer as well!
When I was gathering memory sticks and thumb drives to put the closing ceremony presentation together I'm not sure why I didn't ask you for yours.
Thanks for forwarding those.

I keep forgetting ... and will do this Right Now! ... to tell Barb that 3 out of the 5 lemon melon seeds she sent me came up yesterday. They are in a pot till they get big enough to transplant. A watched pot never boils (har har), but I'm hoping the other 2 seeds will show themselves today.
Speaking of Barb, I hope it's a good day in spite of the hassles and the discomfort. Keeping your chin up is difficult when there seems to be an army camped and doing maneuvers in your mouth.
Cheers!
Sue

Sue, Barb is with the best. I have hated dentists all my life, but loved how they fixed my TMJ and grin at Dr Iniguez office!
