Gotta get Martin on this one. We had a rack for our ragtop, and I think it was by Thule. It worked well.

Happy days, when you both go out in yaks! And you have such super places to paddle, too.

Cheers!

It has been awhile and a tough time since we returned from our spring trip. We had a great time until heading back toward home. Ginny started feeling bad and by the time we got home she was running high temp with flu like symptoms. She was tested for flu and found that she had the antibodies for West Nile Virus. Good news she can't get it again.
Then my brother-in-law had both legs amputated within three weeks due to diabetes. Things finally settled down and we headed northwest.
We are sitting in Colorado in 64 degrees and I'm practicing my fly rod casting after a lesson from a neighbor. Jeep trails are also calling me.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Rainbow and having smooth roads and light winds.

Hi Tim and Mary, hope to see y'all again before too long.

Special Congratulations to Steve and Annie !!!

Steve south Texas sounds good this winter, especially to Ginny.

Hey Tim,

We found ours at a local bike shop, but you can also order them on-line and for the same price. They run about $189.99 the only thing that wears out are the rubber straps but those can be ordered as well.

Cheers !!!

Yes, Diane, we fitted a double hoop rack to our Wrangler to carry Sue's kayak.

From Amazon.com:
Bestop 41415-01 HighRock 4x4 Overhead Rack for 2007-2012 JK Wrangler

In addition, we fitted a couple of Thule saddle pairs - the rear pair having carpet lining to make it easy pushing the kayak forward.

We left the rack on the Jeep when we sold it but kept the saddles.

The rack is very easy to fit. The side channel support brackets are simply fitted over the box side and clamped - there is no cutting or drilling of the body work involved, only a couple of snips each side of the soft top retaining lip.

One warning though - those hoops are not aerodynamic and make a ghastly moaning noise as you drive. However, they are easily removed from the side channels when you don't need them. Here is a pic of our old Jeep showing the rack attached. Click image for larger version

The price seems right. The sites look a bit tight but I'm not one to worry too much about site size as long as we fit. I will check out fire pits, pavilion, potluck/pitch-in potential, etc. and report back to this thread when we can.

The other CG (Anchor "something") seems to be a bit snooty for our group's way of thinking.
Thinking of making the trip this week (25th thru 28th) to River Plantation for a few days (if they have availability) to check it out also. So you will be there on the 24th or 31st? Sniff, sniff, do I smell a Mini "C" in the air?

Hope it becomes a mini-C for y'all. Look foward to reports from you two RVMs. It could be a good C for the East.

I believe we're going to be on lot 219. Give us a shout by personal message and we'll try to get together.
