On the road in Rapid City - on the road in WaKeeny KS and a few other places I found myself having Freightliner - truck stops - Pep Boys... and the odd Ford dealer provide service. Some didn't have a lift that could hoist it - others didn't have a bay height to get it in the door. Some were too busy to even want to talk about it.

The bigger question usually comes down to competency where repairs and maintence are concerned. You will find someone somewhere - but ya need to be sure they know what they're doing.

Was taking to RVM1 the other day and he is now a bonafied fan of SpeedCo... for DP fluid changes. I am a fan of Mobile Oil changes - Jeff I believe is a fan of do it yer self oil changes. I don't like to have to deal with the old fluid. I am a certified klutz and would have it everywhere in 5 minutes...

I am a huge fan Transynd transmission fluid and it's lifecycle... and you would be too. And the Allison Trans in a DP is smart - self preserving - and I would put it up against any you will find in a gasser.

Gotta run and do that w... thing a bit.
Hey Steve !!!!

I don't do my own oil changes for the MH or the Jeep. The MH takes 40 quarts and getting rid of it would be a pain, I use MasterTech in Elkhart, Indiana for that last time it was $225 for oil and filters. The Jeep gets instant oil changes whenever or wherever I'm at and needing a change.

I suggested to Mel a Winnibago Vista because they are class A DP and get good mileage and come in very maneuverable lengths and with slides.

Our MH gets between 8.5 and 10 mpg all the time depending on the grades I'm playing in. Your mutation may vary.

Cheers !!!!!

Mel,
I can't remember if you are planning on full timing... but that is probably one of the biggest considerations in your decision. If you don't think Kates is gonna be happy full timing, I'd sure ease into it with a gasser C type unit until you are sure it is worth the money for a dp...even at half timing, finances would be a big consideration.
As for maintenance... I live south of Kansas city area, in a small town... and we had to do some looking even for our only 11 ft high type c for a place that would take Honey on her first emergency visit... bay height and lift tolerances were considerations and just not wanting to work on those van engines half on the inside...LOL! there are 2 places in our very small town who will. Dealers are ok and usually have the equipment to handle it... but I like someone who is local and cares more.

BTW... the dude who took honey in to work on her got the rest of our fleet business as a reward now, too. You'd think with only the 2 of us, 2 vehicles would be plenty... oh no... there's 2 everyday cars, a truck , a convertible, the trailer with his power chute, and the motorhome now all parked in our parking lot.

Is it me - or are there no mutant mugs in that breakfast pic....

Ed - Jackie - Annie just wrote out a label and boxed up you heirloom quality, appreciating in value, Grade AAAA, extremely collectible, first rate mutant mugs. They will (fingers crossed) be in the mail tomorrow. You can thank me later!

Well folks - the Minnehaha County Treasure has our titles - and our money order. In a few weeks we should have our rainbow riding plates...
BONITA for the B and RVM2 for the CRV...

While we do not discuss protective devices here in the RVMDOM - I will be purchasing an invisible cream pie in the face deflector for safety from any readers I may have accidently offended along the journey... but honestly - if anyone sees us out on the rainbow - please say hello... I will be the first to apologize - offer the mutant hand of friendship and beverage of the temperature of your choosing... hot / cold etc..
Steve
