Steve, what are SD paper plates? Maybe license plates? Are y'all domiciling in South Dakota?

I am worried sick about how I am going to get health insurance, since we are going to be full-timing before I'm 65. (Kate will have Medicare by then.) I'll be age 63 yrs, 2 mos when I leave my job and we want to hit the road 2 months after that. So, I will need to find some kind of insurance to get me to Medicare.

Been reading about this on the Full Time forum, but it's all pretty confusing to me. Did you find a company that specializes in providing insurance plans for full time RVers? I wonder how the ACA can help those of us who leave full time jobs and our group health insurance coverage? It's a nerve-wracking prospect.

Nov. 1 will be here in a minute! OMG, you guys must be so excited to launch your adventure! We're not too far behind you. Now, if we can just find our coach ....

Will PM you in a day or two, after I have a chance to make a plan. Can't go out there this weekend. Forgot about a seminar that I have to help at for work. :-(

LOL! If you miss a day or two, you're behind 10-20 pages! Whew. It helps if you're a speed-reader!

Wouldn't even begin to know how to do that. But, hopefully, it will work out.

Hope Barb is doing ok. Is she well?

Mel - South Dakota paper plates are disposable place settings with the state seal - Mount Rushmore and the governors autograph on them... either that or temporary, paper license plates. 😀 As it turns out we will be getting actual metal plates - as without our state Drivers License they won't issue our vanity plates. So we will have to get those when we go there next month.

And yep - we will be residents of SD using Alternative Resources - name changing to Dakota Post - as our mail / residence.

I agree if worry you will make yourself sick... stop worrying.
You are right though - health insurance in SD has sort of fallen apart. We have Tricare as I am a service connected disabled Vet. So we do not have an issue. My retiree group health would work though.

Indeed we are busy.. and in need of one of Warrens Happy Meals / Valium deals... it is not easy to clear the decks. But each day it feels better.

You found iRV2 and the mutants too - so you're at the right place to find answers or at least ask questions and consider opinions and options.
We will be here for ya! That's the collective, RVM Curiosity we...

How are things in Glocca Morra ... this fine day?

No rain here, so no rainbows except at the unicorn's end. Martin's gone off to the dermatologist to get his pate polished (scabby, scrappy pre-cancerous lesions), while I keep my addled pate at home, eating bonbons and working crossword puzzles. (Right!) >:~/

Glad to hear our great leader has been cleared by yet another specialist (EENT). All a part of the puzzle, soon to be completed and cleared for the next great spread of pieces to assemble. Soon!

Marty, fresh kombucha has been assembled with vinegar from that last batch. Will it work this time? Will the scoby be well fed? Will the sun rise in the morning? Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of ... "As the Demijohn Turns".

Cheers!

Sue ya know - ya can get to Florida for the winter by coming through Rockport Texas on 11/14 - 11/21. That way you could paint the gulf Coast looking south from Texas POV for a change... and be a part of the First Ever RVM Pre-Thanksgiving Day Feast & Flaggship1 Full Time Kickoff Celebration & Curiosity (FERVMPTDF&FFTKC&C) and eat Cajun smoked turkey and have a Bloody whatever that mix is you and Marty make Mary's cocktail - and as Martin might say - bloody good time...

I mean - in the grand scheme of thngs... what's a little drive down to the Texas Gulf Coast on the way to Florida anyway. No big deal...

When I was a kid the family meal was important. We came together in the morning for a little breakfast. A bit hurried but always a period together, however brief. Breakfast set the stage for where we were all headed that day. Our last minute sharing of hopes and dreams for the day, who was depending on whom or what to make it all happen - it all happened at the breakfast table. Whether it was little leauge practice, band or the dentist visit, Mom and dad orchestrated and pulled the strings around the morning meal. And then there was dinner.

Dinner time was sacred. And often it had something to with a little work. Did I pick the tomatoes or OKRA or whatever happened to be coming up out of the ground - if anything. Gardening was more a learning thing than a survival thing for us. But the meal and the family time was special and the sights and colors and dishes themselves were as much a part of the meal as the food or the discussion. Dinner was not a time for TV or music or anything but each other. It was a time for sharing and togetherness. A trip to Rays or A&W or Big Boys was a rare adventure. And then one day everything changed...
Toys became more prolific and fascinating. Instead of going outside to pick up a stick and play cowboys and natives, they made nice ones with holsters that made bang bang noises using those roll of caps. Probably the same ones they use in the movies 'cause they don't have to reload. Tonka Toys and other cast iron cars.

Barb, you are lucky if you get in a situation that requires getting out of. You just find a few people and have them lift it and carry it to the highway.

"Dated" can always be "updated." If he smoked inside the coach, it would be a hard sell where Kate is concerned. Over time, stale tobacco smoke just sort of permeates everything. We definitely prefer to buy from a non-smoker, as both of us are non-smokers. But, if he never smoked inside the coach, it should be fine.

Will pm you now....

Mel
If you find one that has a slight smoke smell in it, go to an auto dealer and get what they use to remove the smoke smell. It works very well. Also, 2004 National Tripical and Pacifica for sure had diesel engines.

Go look at some on rvtrader.com. You'll find many brands and may different year models. Anything you but have inspected by a good RV Mechanic.

Hello fellow mutants. We've been very busy with family matters that need attention.

Just thought I would check in with you guys (not just lurk, read, and leave without comment).

Mary Ann and I hope that all of you are well or on the road to recovery.

We are headed to Florida at the end of October to deliver our MH to our campground's storage lot. We didn't like the experience of getting our MH out of Indiana with an actual temperature of -5. So we are storing it in Florida at a cheap rate and then driving the toad back and forth.

We will drive our MH through 2 more "virgin" states. That will mean that the MH has been in 47 of the 49 drivable states since September 2010. We need to hit NJ and Conn. on our way to the Canadian Maritimes next summer.

Travel easy.
