Doshi completed a fellowship in comparative effectiveness research at Johns Hopkins.

Many articles written by epidemiologists have stated that 'Dr. Doshi, who is not an epidemiologist, makes some clear mistakes about the nature of the yearly flu epidemics that we see, the deaths from influenza, and the benefits/risks of the influenza vaccine.'

IMHO, he's a PhD doc, and not a MD doc, but has presented himself simply as Doctor Doshi. He isn't incorrect, but it is somewhat misleading. His field of undergrad, PhD and Internship studies had nothing to do with epidemiology. [NOTE: there are some MD docs that had also gone on to get their PhD, also. These are the true & tried medical researchers.] So, to take his word for it over Medical Doctors & Epidemiologists [who are NOT doctors, PhD nor MD], isn't worth much. I believe in & follow the instructions of my Cardiologist [MD from Harvard Medical School & Departmental Dean at UAMS] and Internal Medicine Specialist [MD from UAMS & Assistant Professor at UAMS].

Got my shot yesterday with NO side effects, not even soreness where they injected [first time ever!!!]

Wow Larry thanks for doing some research on this guy! Of course I didn't do any. Just thought it was an interesting perspective. I have heard that analogy about the shots effectiveness before from a doc we use to go to. We did get the shots last year and had no issues so we might do it again.

Dwayne... it's really a nice jeep... but it's beyond me how you are going to haul that, and your truck and motorcycle behind a camper... I'll just wait for the pictures....

We are up to our ears in elephants again. And Annie still isn't feeling well. So flu shot or not - the timing is awful and the coincidence is remarkable.
Oh no! Hope that Annie is feeling better by now. Sending healing Ommmmmms her way.

I bring this up only because my niece works in the building and from what we can gather the gunfire was along the hall across in front of the door that was the entrance to her office.

She is OK and we can still argue politics.
So glad to know your niece is ok. Sending Ommmmms her way in case she has any sleepless nights, nightmares, etc.

Confirmed our CL reservation yesterday after a few days of phone tag. We're in #20. And although we'll only be able to stay 3 nights, we're looking forward to meeting everyone.

I've got the coach pretty much ready for our maiden voyage this weekend. Woke up at 4:30 wondering what the hell I might have forgotten to get or do. Is that a forever-curse of owning a motorhome or just my first-time jitters?

Di: Can't wait to see your work up close and personal! Congrats on the honor. I know Juried selection is a big deal.

Jne: I know from reading your posts that sittin' at a picnic table with you will mean I'll be laughing a lot. Looking forward to meeting you! You'll be at CL, right?

Steve & Annie: Sending amplified Ommmmmms your way. You've got a LOT going on right now. The day is coming soon when we'll hear you singing that beloved tune "Happiness is North Richland Hills in my rearview mirror ...." (Does anyone remember Mac Davis? He's from my hometown of Lubbock -- which looks good in anyone's rearview mirror. Eh-hem, but the people are nice. No kidding.)

Ok, time to get ready for w__k ... and maybe a quick run by the mh to drop off the clean sheets and put the cheese-broccoli-potato soup I made last night in the fridge. Oh, and the champagne. Good grief, first things first!

Have a happy day, muties!

Mel
