I know some of you use a water softener. I need some advise. I'm going to use mine in AZ next winter. I bought it years ago and have yet to open the box.

Since I boondock and am not connected to a tap 24/7 I need to know if it substantially slows down the water flow. If so I'll need to visit the water station during the off hours. My plan is to have a plastic barrel on a platform behind Smarty so I won't have to break camp just for water.

Got any tips for me?

Boy it's really official now, cuz Martin heard it on the radio: today is

National Doughnut Day!

I still have macaroons left from that other day, so I'm not really sure a fit of doughnut-making is in order. 🤔

Cheers!

It doesn't slow mine at all. A clogged filter is the biggest impediment, and crystals in the screens is second.
I fill the onboard tank with softened water and it's prefect. With aux tanks it would be well to do the same!

How big is the plastic barrel? Remember, 8#s per gallon, pretty heavy to haul with smart car. Are you going to fill your barrel and use it to fill the tank in the RV?
