My situation is minimal compared to others. Thank you Lord for what I have.

Spike and Spiney moved to new digs today. They left the crowded flower pot and moved into the desert beneath a brittle bush. Baby saguaro cacti need a nanny tree but we have no trees here. I tried buying one of the 3 trees mentioned as being best for that job, but nursery grown trees are too tall and lanky to shade these babies. I'll buy one of the lanky trees and plant it next to the brittle bush and hope that together they can raise these little boys.

They joined us last April when we were at the Texas GC with the help of Amazon. They traveled with us to Seattle and then returned with us to their ancestral home in Arizona. They were only about an inch tall when we first met.

They are now over 4”. It’s amazing to know that they could live 80-100 years and grow to be over 50’ tall.

They look like twins. How do you tell them apart?

(Said the Grampa of twins)

True story:

At a family gathering, our friend brought his twin girls...

As I introduced one twin to one of my family, I said "Pat, this is THE PRETTY twin".

Soon the other twin came over (With a sleigh grin) & asked me to introduce her, I said "Pat, this is the other PRETTY twin!

Laughs all around because they thought they had me trapped: I explained that they were identical twins and equally PRETTY!

Escaped!

Funny, but I have twin sisters and never in my membrane could I not tell them apart. Yet people even now at 75 yo get them mixed up. Our twin GS have certainly changed and easy to tell apart.

Easy to tell them apart - one has 5 more 'spikes' than the other...

What IS the proper name for those pointy things on a cactus anyway???
