We have one of those that frequently visits us at Notta Ranch. Lily, of course, thinks that she supposed to chase it. I’ve heard road runners can be rather testy. I hope Lily doesn’t get an eye pecked out.

From what I’ve seen they prefer bigger perches. I have a photo to show you. This is from an RV park in Dateland. They aren’t good flyers which is why they run. I’ve seen them fly over a 4 foot fence.

Umm! Stone crabs are delicious. Used to get them back in the Scuba Diving days.

Great news! Are Steve and Mary Ann down there yet?

My news is just the opposite. We are finally done with 100* weather. Monday our high temperature is forecast to be 68*. Arizonans will be wearing winter coats. LOL I still can handle those temperatures so I guess I’m still officially a snowbird.

Actually Sue, I don’t think they do get into the dumpsters. They eat snakes, lizards, scorpions and larger bugs. I think he uses the dumpster like Tim uses his deer stand. Only his viewpoint is unlikely to tip over in high winds.

I feel safer having one around to keep venomous critters under control. The desert is full of them. How would you like to find this beauty about 8 inches from your hand? The post he is at the gate into my neighbors yard. I was going out the gate but didn’t see this 8 inch critter on the post until Rose pointed it out.

Safe travels to all 3 of you! I wish you were closer so we could all visit together.

What we need is a transporter like on Star Trek. We’ve gotten communicators, a.k.a. cell phones and electronic notepads, tablets. I’m still waiting for the transporters and holodecks that Gene Roddenberry envisioned and teased our creativity with.

You & the birdies will both enjoy it, I think! How long do you get to soak up all that warmth? (And have you bought your early retirement property yet?)

Mine was just a wisecrack (about as wise as I get). I agree w/ you about how good it is to have roadrunners around to keep certain critters in check. That one on the gate post ... would have had me jumped right outa my skin!

Safe travels, y'all. You're escaping just in time!

We're getting our 20 year old geothermal units & backup furnaces replaced & adding a humidifier. Since we aren't escaping this winter, it will be right handy to have all new, reliable equipment.

If the power goes out, we'll just trek out to the shed & move in to the RV w/ its generator. And its fake fire. And electric blanket. And pretend.

Cheers!
